BTD Manufacturing is Hiring a CNC Programmer II Near Lakeville, MN

Summary: Capable of programming and set-up for most blocks and able to operate all types of CNC equipment. Excel at maintaining a high level of accuracy in produced work. Exercises a willingness to problem solve, but will utilize necessary resources in accomplishing functions of the position.

Safety is #1 at BTD: Our expectation is that every employee: 1) Strictly follows safety policies, rules, and safe work methods. 2) Promptly corrects or reports safety hazards or unsafe conditions. Promptly reports injuries for prompt diagnosis and treatment. 3) Make regular suggestions for safety process improvements to support continuous improvement in safety.

Essential Functions:

  1. Review assigned jobs and corresponding due dates.
  2. Programs jobs ahead of time per load requirements.
  3. Reviews die designs. Understands how the die produces the finished part before programming is started. Anticipates and corrects problems.
  4. Maintains CNC task manager, adding jobs and updating them as needed.
  5. Documents all pertinent information in the CAD then files for easy retrieval to reproduce the part as needed.
  6. Plays an important role in communicating with toolmakers and operators on what die components will be made in CNC or Manually. Always keeping cost in mind.
  7. Solves problems (i.e., trouble with setting up blocks or creating new programs).
  8. Analyzes the optimal way to program and set up.
  9. Operates CNC as needed.
  10. Draws basic parts or related projects as needed.
  11. Assumes responsibility for Renishaw Probe, Toolset pot, Tool pre-setter, and diagnostic calibrations of the equipment, where applicable.
  12. Performs all duties in a safe manner, complying with safety rules and regulations.
  13. Maintains a safe and clean work area.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Graduation from high school (or equivalent) plus two years of technical tooling training. Minimum two (2) years of directly related experience.

Experience and Skills Required: At least two years of recent related mechanical and shop experience, of which a minimum of one year of related CNC experience, which includes the following skills and abilities:

  1. Working knowledge of the tooling process and CNC machinery.
  2. Working knowledge of the equipment, materials, methods, and practices used in production tooling operations, which leads to efficient decision making whether to use a manual or CNC operation to be most productive for a specific application.
  3. Knowledge of related safety requirements to include proper use of safety equipment and proper safety precautions.
  4. Ability to understand, follow, and issue routine oral and written instructions.
  5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
