About this Opportunity
Brunswick County Department of Social Services is accepting applications for a Social Worker I in our Child Protective Services unit and our Permanency Planning/Foster Care unit.

A Permanency Planning Social Worker I works with and supports at-risk families and performs intensive visitation services focused on promoting positive parent/child interaction, bonding and attachment. The visitation worker implements activities with parents that promote healthy childhood growth and development while assessing the ongoing needs of families.
Job responsibilities include:
A Child Protective Services Social Worker I works in a supportive role in tandem with the Child Protective Services Assessment/Investigation Social Worker III to assist in all case activities intended to assess child safety concerns and meet required timeframes, and state standards. In collaboration with Social Worker III, a determination will be made before the case decision if there is a need to continue to provide ongoing services to help reduce risk to children and ensure child safety.

Physical Requirements
Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines, which include typewriters, calculators, copiers, facsimile machines, etc. Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for periods of time.
