Job Purpose

Heat Treating Operators set up, operate, and tend to activities involving the heat treatment of manufactured product inside the heat-treating furnace(s).

About the Role

Heat Treat Operators will proceed in heat treatment of manufactured product based on certain temperature tolerances, frequencies, heating cycles, and induction heating coils based on degree of hardness required and properties of stock to be treated. They are also to record times that parts are removed from furnaces to document that objects have attained specified temperatures for specified times.

Load and unload parts from start and end of line. Determine types and temperatures of baths and quenching media needed to attain specified part hardness, toughness, and ductility, using heat-treating charts and knowledge of methods, equipment, and metals. Examine parts to ensure metal shades and colors conform to specifications, using knowledge of metal heat-treating.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Run, operate, and monitor the heat treat furnace through all stages of the process.

· Maintain furnace controls to meet specified requirements of process.

· Follow specific work instructions to complete daily work assignments in a timely manner.

· Operate Hilo to move material to furnace.

· Read computer controls, such as carbon controller at periodic intervals to ensure specified temperatures and soaking plus cooling times are maintained.

· Maintain a clean department and help also throughout the shop.

· Follow established safety rules and regulations.

· Willingness to be flexible in work schedule

· Set/ Maintain furnace loading/unloading rates, and weights according to job recipes.

· Monitor equipment, looking for wear and tear damage. Monitor water/ solution levels, and actual values.

· Monitor chemical additive levels; to not run out of product while in production.

· Pick, stage, and load product (proper verification of product is needed before loading).

· Verify the proper unloading of the furnace line (ensure bins aren't being overloaded and parts aren't being damaged.

· Verify proper distribution of product (entering the HTO/NTO furnaces).

· Perform the daily/weekly checks (check sheets) as required

· Verify the loading scale is within tolerance for production (once per shift or as needed).

· Answer and address furnace alarms as needed.

· Perform housekeeping duties as time permits

· Monitor support equipment , empty, clean, and maintain equipment as needed.

· Monitor Endothermic gas generators to ensure normal operation.

· Maintain proper emulsion levels, set points, and proper furnace operation.

· Keep bins available for unloading of product.

· Verification of lathe settings, and proper set up to roll parts for testing.

·Become familiar with all paperwork and verify all paperwork is filled out properly.

· Test parts either HRC or Tensile test

· Weigh up unloaded parts and stack in completed heat treat area.

· While normal operation runs inspect loading belt for damage or missing flights.

· Drain oil from the loading hopper catch areas as needed.

· Sweep and mop the loading area and any spills that happen, organize work stations

· Visually inspect the vacuum for proper operation and empty unit as needed.

· Sweep and wipe down equipment as time permits.

· Perform Duties as assigned in a safe and productive manner

Qualifications

To succeed as a Heat Treat Operator at Brugola, you need to have the following:

· High School Diploma or equivalent

· Ability to understand basic math.

· Must have basic computer skills.

· Ability to communicate

· Previous experience with Heat Treat is preferred

· Previous experience with a Hilo is required

· Works well with other Employees and Team Members

· Self-motivated and able to work without constant supervision.

· Good work ethics, dependable, reliable.

· Able to work in a Team environment, get along with others.

· Physically able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, and reach.

Working Conditions

Ability to work under pressure, take inventory of stock management

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
