Description

Creates and implements a flexible program and classroom environment favorable to student learning and personal growth. Develops lesson plans consistent with established guidelines. Establish effective rapport with students, staff members, and parents.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associates degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent

Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years successful experience working with children with disabilities.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Florida Driver's License, HIV Course, CPR

Department of Children and Families 45 Hours child-care Course

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Plans and implements a program of instruction that adheres to the companys philosophy, goals and objectives
  2. Creates appropriate lesson plans which provide for effective teaching strategies
  3. Reviews student records in order to develop a foundation of understanding regarding each students abilities and needs. Maintain accurate and complete student records.
  4. Strives to maximize the educational achievement of each student.
  5. Utilizes a variety/range of student learning modalities in each lesson and uses differentiated instruction within those lessons
  6. Utilizes diagnostic assessment of student learning on a frequent basis
  7. Assesses student strengths and weaknesses on a frequent basis, provides appropriate activities to address student needs and generates progress reports as required.
  8. Coordinates class field trips (as required).
  9. Keeps current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory and is willing to share this knowledge for the continual improvement of the Academys curriculum.
  10. Assists in the on-going curriculum revision process
  11. Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials
  12. Becomes acquainted with supplemental services beneficial to students as an extension of regular classroom activities

Valid Florida Driver's License, HIV Course, CPR

Department of Children and Families 45 Hours child-care Course

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as educational and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Provides directions to teacher assistant(s) assigned to the classroom.
