The Webster Campus Community School seeks a Family Worker to work with middle school students and their families
BronxWorks is hiring one (1) Family Worker for our YABC at Stevenson Highschool/ NDA Program.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain familiarity with agency and community resources
• Coordinate client services with mental health, medical, employment, educational, child care and other social service providers
• Conduct home visit and field visit as required
• Promote teamwork and collaboration among staff
• Develop and build relationships with parents and families of program participants.
• Ensure a physically safe environment for students and families
• Attend internal and external agency meetings and trainings
• Submit reports as required including monthly reports to supervisor
• Assist with special projects and perform additional duties as assigned
Program Specific Responsibilities:
• Provide direct services to students and families including engagement, referral, advocacy, and case management services
• Coordinate with Community School Director, Social Worker and School Personnel to identify chronically absent students
Qualifications:
• Two years related experience working in a school setting
• Experience in a supervisory/management position
• Experience with and knowledge of best practices in youth development preferred
• Ability to work well with young people, school administrators, community partners and families
• Program design, curriculum management and implementation experience
• Excellent communication, writing and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in modern business communications including personal computers, electronic mail, voicemail, facsimile and copier equipment
Skills/Abilities:
• Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time
• Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork
• Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents
• Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation
• Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work
