BronxWorks helps individuals and families improve their economic and social well-being. From toddlers to seniors, we feed, shelter, teach, and support our neighbors to build a stronger community. We have 60 locations throughout the borough providing a variety of programs that offer assistance in the areas of family, children and youth support, educational services, elder care, homelessness, mental health, and workforce development. Qualifications:

  • Associates degree required preferably in the social services (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services) or Bachelor’s degree preferred preferably in the social services (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services)
  • One year of social services or workforce experience preferred
  • Proficiency in modern business communications including personal computers, electronic mail, voicemail, facsimile and copier equipment
  • Bi-lingual Spanish-speaking strongly preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor client progress toward goals, document interactions with or on behalf of clients according to program requirements
  • Conduct on-site outreach events, apartment outreach, and informational sessions to build residents
  • Conduct home visits to clients as needed and actively engage clients who are absent or decrease their participation level and involvement in the services
  • Develop and maintain connections with employers appropriate to the skills and interests of program clients
  • Develop and maintain connections with local school staff including Family Liaisons, School Attendance Monitors and School Counselors
  • Assist clients in the preparation of resumes, cover letters, thank you letters and employment applications
  • Screen clients for employment and educational opportunities and provide application and interview preparation and support
  • Facilitate a 6 month paid Peer Program, including accepting and reviewing applications, completing interviews and selecting the candidates, and support them through the 6 month program to graduation
  • Maintain accurate employment verification documentation, track employment retention and school attendance and graduation rates
  • Complete reports on a monthly basis and six month assessments for all active clients
  • Maintain familiarity with agency and city resources available to clients
  • Participate in regular weekly supervision with supervisor and monthly clinical trainings
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong writing and oral communication skills
  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City via public transportation
  • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work
