Responsible for obtaining and keeping current data for all individuals on the Medical and Adjunct Staffs.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Credentialing Specialist.
Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist loads and maintains provider information in an online credentialing database system. Tracks license and certification expirations for medical staff to ensure timely renewals.
Maintains database system for criteria needed to maintain staff appointment as established
by the Medical Staff bylaws.
Maintains ongoing credentialing database system for reappointment of staff members per the time schedule established by the Medical Staff bylaws.
Collects and compiles all relevant verified information for the reappointment process for all
Medical and Adjunct Staff members.
Provides follow-up with the staff member and oversees the reappointment application
through the necessary Medical Staff committees.
Assists with distributing and maintaining data for ongoing professional performance
evaluation and focused evaluation for all practitioners.
Oversees On-Call specialty calendars for the organizations
Assists with the processing of new applications to the Medical/Adjunct Staffs
Responsible for the assisting in the effective operation of the Medical Staff Department.
Provides, as requested, support secretarial services to the Medical Staff.
Email weekly reminders to Medical/Adjunct staff for medical records deficiencies & suspensions.
Coordinates Medical Staff activities.
Has current knowledge of Joint Commission standards, state and federal requirements.
Ensure the facility and staff members are maintaining compliance with regulatory and accrediting institutions.
Composes and/or transcribes minutes for all Medical Staff meetings as needed.
Composes Board of Directors approval letters for the Medical Staff.
Arranges for dietary, equipment and room set up for all meetings & events as needed.
Assists the President of the Medical Staff and the Medical Staff Office
Provides support secretarial services.
Maintains and keeps current the calendar for appointments and meetings.
Responsible for incoming phone calls, verifications of hospital affiliations and inquiries.
Other duties as necessary.
Manages all production of Credential materials, ECMS materials and Peer Review for meetings in a timely fashion.
Collects and assembles materials for meeting as needed.
Composes and/or transcribes minutes for all Medical Staff meetings as needed.
Handles meeting arrangements as needed.
Maintains appropriate levels of confidentiality.
Facilitates customer inquiries in a courteous, knowledgeable and effective manner.
Always exercises appropriate discretion and maintains confidentiality for the organization.

Bristol Hospital Mandated Educational Requirements:
General orientation at time of hire. Fire/Safety/Infection Control annually. Other programs as mandated by Hospital.
Special Requirements:
Familiarity with functions of medical staff organization. Flexibility regarding work day. Proficiency in computers.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged sitting at a desk and/or computer terminal.
Work Environment:
Typical business office environment.
