We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Aide to join our team at Scotia Village Continuing Care Retirement Community. The Personal Care Aide will be responsible for providing personalized assistance and support to residents in our assisted living community. This role requires a nurturing attitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to provide compassionate care to individuals with diverse needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
- Monitor and report changes in residents' physical, emotional, and mental health to the appropriate supervisor.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, fostering a positive and engaging environment.
- Assist with medication reminders and administration under the direction of licensed nursing staff.
- Help residents with meal preparation, feeding, and hydration, ensuring dietary needs and preferences are met.
- Support residents in participating in recreational activities, social events, and outings.
- Maintain a clean and organized living environment for residents, including light housekeeping tasks and laundry assistance.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures, always ensuring the well-being and security of residents.
- Respect and maintain residents' privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
- Collaborate effectively with other team members, including nursing staff, caregivers, and support staff, to ensure holistic care for residents.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must possess a certification of completion of an 80-hour course for Adult/Family Home Personal Care Staff training.
- Prior experience working in assisted living, long-term care, or a similar healthcare setting preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with residents, families, and team members.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine desire to provide compassionate care to older adults.
- Physical ability to assist residents with mobility, lifting, and other physical tasks as needed.
- Reliable and punctual, with a commitment to maintaining a professional and positive demeanor.
- Willingness to undergo background checks and screenings required by state regulations.
Working Conditions:
- The Personal Care Aide will primarily work within the assisted living facility, providing care to residents in their living spaces and communal areas.
- This role may require standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.
