As the Health Center Admissions Coordinator you are responsible for marketing the Health Center and maintaining Health Center occupancy. Actively pursuing leads for new residents. the Health Center Admissions Coordinator will build relationships with hospitals, discharge planners, physicians and managed care organizations to be a provider of choice. 
Required:
  • Respond to inquiry calls from hospital discharge planners, families, and other referral sources.
  • Conduct facility tours.
  • Manage the admission process by always maintaining updated bed availability and facility services information.
  • Manage the inquiry process professionally, timely and with appropriate follow-up.
  • Effectively manage occupancy levels and census/premium mix enhancement.
  • Understand census, quality mix and bed management needs of the facility.
  • Process admissions paperwork, ensure appropriate payer source, etc. and obtain signatures from residents or responsible parties prior to each admission. 
  • Communicate special needs of new admits to staff to facilitate a smooth transition.
  • Alert appropriate department supervisors and building staff of projected changes, i.e., admissions, bed changes, and discharges, by chairing daily admission meeting to discuss forthcoming changes. Utilize bed management principles.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the Marketing Director, Director of Nursing, and the Business Office Manager to ensure appropriate and efficient decisions about prospective admissions.
  • Ensure proper federal, state, and facility mandated documentation is completed.
  • Ensure all necessary Medicare and/or insurance information is available and confirmed prior to admission.
  • Review admission packets for accuracy and approval. Enter new resident information into ECS.
  • Educate residents and families about the extent of Medicare and Medicaid coverage, including length of stay, amount of coverage and co-insurance days.
  • Periodically assess services provided by the facility; compare these to the needs of the community.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, or related field preferred; equivalent related work experience may be acceptable.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a health care setting; CCRC/long-term care setting preferred.
  • Equivalent experience in a Director of Admissions position may be acceptable.
