Brightline Jobs is Hiring a Senior Accountant - Miami Near Miami, FL

At Brightline, we believe in creating meaningful connections through exceptional experiences. We’re creating a brighter way to get there by making travel more convenient, more sustainable, and more hospitable every day.

Brightline is the first new major private passenger intercity railroad in the United States in over a century. Currently operating rapid rail service between Miami and Orlando, we’re connecting one of the nation’s busiest travel corridors. Future plans include service between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, as well as other intercity routes throughout North America.

Our passenger rail system offers a travel alternative that’s faster, safer, more eco-friendly, and more enjoyable than travel by car or air. If you’re optimistic, forward-thinking, and interested in shaping the future of travel with us, we’d love to hear from you.

Your Purpose

As an essential member of the accounting team, you will be responsible for performing the day-to-day accounting activities, such as booking journal entries, account reconciliations, and both financial and management reporting. You will be responsible for preparing complex financial reports, developing policies and procedures, initiating process improvements, and maintaining effective internal controls.

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, The Senior Accountant will play a key role in the implementation and maintenance of Brightline’s accounting methodologies, strategies, compliance, and other required processes such as the development of controls and the implementation of accounting and finance related systems.

  • Ensure integrity and timeliness of accounting information as well as recognition in accordance with US GAAP
  • Analyze complex financial reports and records
  • Upload transactions from sub-ledgers and other systems (e.g., Point-of-Sale/Inventory management and construction accounting systems) and data reconciliations
  • Validate and record accounting entries from third-party data sources (e.g., merchant service processors, contractors, and trustee reports)
  • Assist with the external audit/review of financial statements and transaction reports
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and bondholder/lender requirements, including review of stand-alone and consolidated Balance Sheets, Statements of Operations and Cash Flows, tie-outs to supporting schedules, and other documentation
  • Contribute to ongoing continuous improvement of accounting systems and business processes to increase efficiencies and shorten the closing cycle
  • Assist with special projects as requested
  • Hold confidential and/or proprietary information in strict confidence

We are a new business model – agile and evolving. This job description isn’t meant to be a complete list of your qualifications or all the things you’ll do.

You:

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in accounting and financial reporting, with a mix of public and private experience preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced start-up environment
  • Highly ethical with the ability to work cooperatively with other departments without compromising internal controls
