Practicum Students (2 openings available)

who are looking to achieve their CADC and/or QMHA certification.

Bridgeway is dedicated to delivering comprehensive, evidence-based treatment and recovery support for individuals and families affected by substance use disorders, offering a diverse range of services to meet community needs. Our internships provide students with hands-on experience in a professional setting, fostering practical knowledge and career exploration. These opportunities, whether part of an academic program or independent arrangement, allow students to earn academic credit, enhance their resumes, and develop self-confidence while reinforcing classroom learning. Additionally, interns receive valuable recommendations and build professional relationships for future opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The practicum student works closely with the Program Supervisor and counselors to gain onsite learning experience working in the field of alcohol and drug treatment.

• Observe, assist, and co-facilitate in client screenings, assessments, individual sessions, and group counseling.
• Assist with treatment planning and discharge planning.
• Assist with coordination of services with other agencies to meet client needs as directed.
• Participate as a member of the Bridgeway treatment team.
• Advise supervisor of any potential conflicts of interest regarding clients (personal or business relationship).
• Understand and support the mission, vision, and values of Bridgeway Recovery Services.
• Understand and follow Bridgeway policies and procedures.
• Meets with Program Supervisor for supervision one time a week.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Attendance at treatment team staff meetings.
• Maintains ethical boundaries.
• Promote and contribute to positive, professional working relationships with Bridgeway employees, clients, and other agencies.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

• Knowledge of the disease concept.
• Open mind with ability/willingness to learn and grow.
• Ability to model professional behaviors.
• Must be enrolled in the second year of a professional/technical educational program OR third year of undergraduate studies.
• Qualified candidates must be able to pass an OHA criminal background check.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong computer and time management skills.
• Intermediate understanding of ASAM PPC-2R and DSM-5.
• Intermediate understanding of Oregon Administrative Rules is preferred.
