BridgeValley CTC is Hiring a Vice President for Student Affairs Near South Charleston, WV

The Vice President of Student Affairs (VPSA) is the chief student affairs officer of the college and reports directly to the President. The VPSA has overall responsibility for providing leadership, management, and supervision for student affairs programs, student services personnel, student financial aid, recruiting and retention, enrollment management and the registrar’s office. This position works collaboratively with other departments to create a campus culture that promotes student success, a welcoming campus environment for a diverse student body, and to foster a sense of community among the students.
The Student Affairs team is committed to providing inclusive, innovative, and collaborative services and programs that empower students to reach their educational goals. Discussion, collaboration, and communication are important characteristics of this team and its continuing success. This position is exempt, full-time, and non-classified. Salary offer will be commensurate with education and experience.
  • Provide leadership and supervision for a comprehensive array of student services, student development programs focused on student success, and enrollment management programs, including, but not limited to, admissions, counseling, advising, career planning and placement, recruiting and retention, student discipline, veterans affairs, student activities, student advocacy, services for students with special needs, retention efforts, grants management, and other student support services and programs;
  • Develop, foster, and promote new opportunities for partnerships with public and private sector entities to help contribute to enrollment and student success.
  • Plan, design, develop and deliver student programs and services that implement the goals of the College and the strategic plan; provides leadership for evaluating and ensuring quality in all aspects of student affairs, student development and enrollment management programs and staff.
  • Recommend, develop, and implement student affairs policies, procedures and practices that foster and promote student learning and student success, and support the educational programs of the College.
  • Support college activities and special events through attendance and/or participation.
  • Prepare appropriate reports; analyze and evaluate enrollment and retention data; project student enrollment and retention data to be used in strategic decision making.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and college regulations and policies.
  • Perform all other duties necessary to accomplish the educational objectives of the College and/or as assigned by the President.
  • This position may require travel and flexible hours. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required. Employment is contingent upon satisfactorily passing a criminal background investigation.
  • Masters degree from an accredited college/university, preferably in student affairs administration, higher education, or a related field. An earned doctorate degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in higher education with increasing levels of responsibility, including budget management experience, and have a minimum of 7 years of experience supervising staff and working directly with college students.
  • Proven implementation success of student development theory and programs; student due process policies/procedures; current issues and trends in student affairs and student development.
  • Demonstrated leadership in developing and providing services for first generation, low-income and at-risk students and enabling student success for those same individuals.
  • Demonstrated skill in conflict resolution strategies and methods; skill in mediating disputes between students, staff and students, staff and students/parents and community representatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a large, organization and its budget.
