Brevard County Sheriff's Office is Hiring a Judicial Technician Near Titusville, FL

The purpose of this class is to provide law enforcement officials and the judicial unit with information regarding arrest warrants, injunctions and civil process. The class works according to set procedures under direct supervision.

The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary. 

  • Distributes and recalls court issued criminal and civil documents to and from agency units, precincts and/or other law enforcement and court agencies/officials.
  • Performs data entry and updates of court issued criminal or civil process in agency and FCIC/NCIC databases, ensuring information is accurate and complete. 
  • Monitors, answers and/or replies to telephone, radio and written requests from law enforcement agencies, court officials and the general public regarding arrest warrants, injunctions, and civil process. 
  • Makes transportation arrangements and prepares order to transport for subjects in custody.
  • Files court issued criminal and civil documents in accordance with agency procedures.
  • Collects and distributes funds and fees related to service of civil or criminal process.
  • Maintains financial records of funds and fees related to service of criminal and/or civil process.
  • Ensures service affidavits are accurately completed and returned in a timely manner.
  • Performs routine office tasks such as preparing routine reports, typing, filing, faxing, telephoning, operating radio and photocopying.
  • Monitors Teletype radio network and responds to requests for information from law enforcement officers.
  • Enters and retrieves criminal and investigative information through FCIC/NCIC Criminal Justice Information Systems.
  • Maintains various logs, charts, maps, repair logs, wrecker logs and recordings to provide records of all non-emergency actions for follow-up investigative, administrative or legal action.
  • Operates/maintains non-emergency equipment such as computers, printers, playback systems, CAD and other systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 
  • Regular, dependable and punctual attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Requires High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Requires FCIC/NCIC certification within six (6) months of employment.
  • Must have basic computer skills to include various data base systems. 
  • Must be able to pass the BCSO typing test with a minimum score of 30 wpm.

Work is performed in an office environment. Employees are required to be flexible and must be available to work all shifts during training to include days, nights, weekends, holidays and during natural disasters. A shift will be assigned after successful completion of training. Shifts are 2:00pm - 12:00am or 9:00pm to 7:00am; 3 days off each week - must be able to work either of these shifts; days/nights, weekends, holidays and during natural disasters.

During an emergency, the Sheriff will determine who is considered an emergency responder and whose work is necessary to maintain the operation of law enforcement and correctional facilities. This determination is subject to change based on staffing and the operational needs of the agency.
