LAB SUPERVISOR

Our team in Fresno currently has an opening for a Lab Supervisor

YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Under general guidance, performs a wide range of moderate to difficult activities. Coordinates resources to ensure safe, efficient and effective operations of the lab; uses independent judgment within the framework of established policies and objectives in decisions affecting company activities; makes recommendations and assists in the formulation of company objectives, policies, and plans as they relate to the local lab.

Description:

• Perform quality control tests required on incoming raw materials and on finished goods, including adjusting batches as required.
• Manage QA functions for branch location. This includes management of Kosher, Halal, BRC and ISO audits.
• Perform lab equipment calibrations in a timely manner.
• Test OOS & returned goods as requested by Technical Director.
• Manage key customer relationships with respect to notifications, audits, and surveillance samples for all Brenntag Pacific locations.
• Maintain Food Safety programs.
• Facilitate Food Safety and Job 7 monthly meetings.
• Maintain appropriate documentation (records and lab notebooks) in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
• Prepare or obtain Certificates of Analysis or quality documents as required by Brenntag Pacific and Brenntag Pacific’s customers.
• Maintain current Life Science documents, certificates, and vendor.
• Perform annual refresher and new employee hire training of HACCP, cGMP’s and Allergen Programs.
• Dispose of and/or retain samples on a regular basis following required regulations.
• Draft, revise, and train on lab standard operating procedures as needed.
• Prepare standard reagent solutions as required by the test methods.
• Manage and oversee branch lab personnel and resources through coordination of tasks, scheduling, and prioritization of assignments.
• Maintain good housekeeping in the laboratory, retained sample room and surrounding areas.
• Attend all required training when scheduled unless absent from work.
• Observe, follow, and enforce all Brenntag Pacific Policies and Procedures.
• Occasional to moderate travel may be required.
• Represent Brenntag Pacific in a professional manner.
• Other duties as assigned.

YOUR PROFILE

Education and Experience:

• Possess good organizational skills and ability to prioritize work to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
• Possess excellent written/oral communication skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff, including upper management.
• Ability to work with internal customers, resolving problems in a manner acceptable to the customer and satisfaction of the company.
• Ability to operate the following laboratory equipment: fine balances, Karl-Fisher moisture titrator, infrared spectrometer, laboratory mixers, APHA color tester, pH meter, burettes, pipets and other glassware to perform wet chemistry analyses.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
• Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
• Ability to read and interpret job related documents.
• Possess high standard of work ethics to ensure confidentiality of company information.
• Possess proficient skill level of Microsoft Office.
