PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENINGS: Brenau University will conduct criminal background checks on all persons being considered for initial employment. In some circumstances, an FBI fingerprint report may be necessary to satisfy the requirement. Once employed, employees must hold and continue to maintain a favorable criminal history background. Random background checks are performed. Credit checks may be performed on candidates/employees who are selected for a position that regularly engages in handling credit cards or other company monies. A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) may be performed during the hiring process, or as part of a random check. MVR checks are required to meet insurance requirements for those employees operating a university vehicle or participating in any driving activity on behalf of Brenau University, (including operating a golf cart, rented vehicle or one’s personal vehicle). Employees who travel must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid Georgia driver’s license, and good driving record. All employees who operate university vehicles, who are employed in a sensitive position, or who travel regularly as part of their job responsibilities may be subject to post-hire drug screening and random drug-screening. All employees are subject to reasonable suspicion drug screening..

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. from a fully accredited institution of higher education in Elementary or Middle Grades Education or Leadership in Higher Education and previous university teaching experience or significant K-12 classroom or leadership experience.
  • Willingness to cheerfully contribute to service initiatives at the department and university level

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in curriculum design and delivery using current industry trends and issues along with requirements set forth by the PSC
  • The ability to create and support diversity, equity, and inclusiveness in all aspects of the work.
  • Teaching experience in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats
  • Experience in course development, student advising, and/or field instruction
  • A record of collaboration with faculty, teachers, families, students and the broader educational community
  • Experience with or understanding of data reporting for accreditation purposes
  • Superior interpersonal, organizational, and oral/written communication skills
  • Potential for leadership opportunities, such as academic program development, coordination, and innovation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Brenau University invites applications to apply for a full-time, Assistant or Associate Professor position in the College of Education. Duties include teaching a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses in education and higher education in various formats, supervising student teaching, overseeing and guiding graduate level research and advising. The successful candidate will develop and deliver courses in a variety of modes, including online courses that ensure quality and effective assessment. 

Environmental and Working Conditions:Normal environment found in an educational setting. Some exposure to outdoors and varying weather conditions may be required. Hours may be extended to meet the needs of the department.
 
Physical Demands and Aptitudes:
Mostly Sedentary work. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment related to teaching. Prolonged periods sitting and standing. Worker is required to have close visual acuity to grade papers, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
 
Work Hours:

37.5 hours per week. Generally Monday-Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Hours may be extended to meet the needs of the department. 

Home Campus Designation:

This position is an on-ground position in Gainesville, GA.

Licensure Requirements:
