PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENINGS: Brenau University will conduct criminal background checks on all persons being considered for initial employment. In some circumstances, an FBI fingerprint report may be necessary to satisfy the requirement. Once employed, employees must hold and continue to maintain a favorable criminal history background. Random background checks are performed. Credit checks may be performed on candidates/employees who are selected for a position that regularly engages in handling credit cards or other company monies. A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) may be performed during the hiring process, or as part of a random check. Brenau University is hiring in the area of Spanish.Job Responsibilities:

• Provide evaluations that are appropriate, equitable, professional, and designed to improve student performance.

• Continually adapt teaching strategies in the implementation of the course to meet the needs of all students.
• Develop and encourage an atmosphere of openness in the classroom.
• Be familiar with the services provided by the various institutional offices such as Financial Aid, Learning Center, Student Records, Business and Finance, Student Services, Math SPA, Library, and the Writing Center so as to be able to assist and direct students when necessary.

Qualifications:

• Training in Canvas is required and provided.
• In order to be eligible to teach undergraduate classes at Brenau University, candidates must possess a Master's degree and at least 18 graduate hours in the discipline being taught.
• Although not necessary, candidates who can also teach French are desired.

 
Department Specific Information:Courses are taught in a 14-week format with online and/or on ground delivery.

Courses include:

• SH101 Spanish Language and Culture I
• SH102 Spanish Language and Culture II

Position Location: Gainesville, GA and Online. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach on-ground at the Gainesville historical campus.

Training:Training in Canvas, (our learning management system) is required.

Salary Level: Adjunct faculty are compensated on a per course basis dependent upon credentials:

• Master’s Degree (non-terminal): $600 per credit hour (i.e. $1800 per 3 credit hour course)
• Terminal Degree (Ph.D., Ed.D, M.F.A., etc.): $750 per credit hour. (i.e. $2,250 per 3 credit hour course)
• Adjuncts working off campus (Hospital, School, etc.): Varies according to department and should be discussed with the Department Chair.

 
**If enrollment is not sufficient (minimum of eight), the class may be canceled or compensation adjusted.**

This position is based in Gainesville, GA.
