Overview

The Vice President, Associate General Counsel, Licensing & Regulatory provides comprehensive legal counsel and support in a range of areas with a focus on regulatory compliance and federal, state, and local permits and licensing.

Responsibilities

• Deliver business-oriented legal advice on regulatory matters and support regulatory compliance efforts and training activities across the Company
• Draft and advise on commercial documents, to include supplier contracts and sponsorship agreements
• Support the Company’s transactional initiatives by strategically evaluating and advising on regulatory considerations such as franchise laws, citizenship and residency requirements, licensing requirements, and tied house laws
• Supervise beverage alcohol regulatory due diligence efforts as needed and participate in the drafting of transactional documents
• Obtain and maintain all federal, state and local licenses and permits for the distribution of alcohol, to include by overseeing all renewal, amendment and related applications
• Supervise audits of licensing, renewal and permitting processes across the Company
• Supervise outside counsel in connection with alcohol beverage licensing and compliance matters and manage budgets in connection with same
• Provide advice and support in connection with enforcement actions
• Participate in industry conferences and meet with regulatory agencies to gain support for the Company's business initiatives in current as well as prospective markets
• Stay up to date on legal and regulatory requirements in the beverage alcohol industry
• Other related duties, as assigned by the job holder’s supervisor, may be required

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree with an excellent academic track record
• Admission in at least one state bar
• 10 years' experience as a practicing lawyer
• Sound judgment and ability to make reasoned decisions and recommendations
• Self-starter with good business sense and a sense of urgency, honesty and fairness
• Experience forging relationships and advising leaders and key stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

• Beverage alcohol experience a plus
