Job Tile: Process Technician (2nd Shift)

Department: Production

Reports to: Production Manager

FLSA Status: NON-Exempt

Job Summary:

Process technicians collaborate with industrial engineers to implement designs that allow them to use materials, machines, and even personnel as effectively as possible. Process technicians will closely observe employees to ensure that all equipment is used properly and maintained to the correct standards.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Increase productivity while maintaining quality and reducing scrap and waste.
  • Quality-successfully manage efficiency-correct color, weights, no defects, full parts.
  • Blender set up-Able to accurately set up blenders at color changes and adjust accordingly to needs of quality, having all material boxes at blender before color change.
  • Understanding temperature benchmarks-able to take reading and apply to issues on the line.
  • Operating and monitor process equipment
  • Start up and shut down process equipment.
  • Maintaining process equipment in good working condition
  • Troubleshooting process equipment when problems occur and identify the root cause of the problem.
  • Adjusting process parameters as needed to optimize performance and work to reduce any defects.
  • Ability to communicate with the team always, maintaining clear and open communication lines.
  • Ability to communicate with supervisors about equipment errors.
  • Develop and support the fabrication processes along with improving existing processes.
  • Monitor all processes with the goal of resolving any issues as efficiently as possible, reducing downtime.
  • Understanding extruder speeds-able to set best of production while reducing waste/scrap and maintaining quality.
  • Weighing scrap parts to find out where the problem is coming from.
  • Coach and train machine operators on better processes.
  • Daily data recording for extruder temperatures, charge temperatures, press cycle time, etc.
  • Ensuring that all safety procedures are followed.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean working environment
  • Monitor par and shift performance-daily, weekly, monthly, and develop and/or lead activity to make improvements in cost, quality, productivity.
  • Troubleshoot product, process, and equipment problems in forming and secondary operations as required.
  • Ability to communicate standard programs are set up correctly.
  • Ability to troubleshoot molds, blender issues, & short shots
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Expectations:

  • Purge plastic and dispose of it properly. Do not leave purge on the floor.
  • Ensure Press Log and Extruder Logs are completed.
  • Ensure PPE is always worn.
  • Change filters as needed.
  • Check for short shots and other imperfections.
  • Monitor parts for defects on every extruder on a 2-hour schedule.
  • Work in close relationship with Quality on the expectations of the product.
  • Follow all written policies and procedures.
  • Follow trouble shooting guide.
  • Communicate with supervisors and leads about production schedule, production needs, and expectations.
  • Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner.

Qualification Requirements:

  • 3 years’ experience as a process technician
  • Excellent analytical and observational skills
  • Sound knowledge of industrial machines and mechanical processes
  • Advanced report-writing skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Excellent communication, time management, multi-tasking, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must have a valid Driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds occasionally, and up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Must be able to twist, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, and stretch during daily routine, with the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull objects weighing over 50 pounds.

Education and Experience:

  • High School or equivalent-Required
  • Manufacturing experience

Shift: 6pm-6am

Pay: $19/hr.-24/hr.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour
