Position Type: High School/Driver Education Date Posted: 3/27/2024 Location: Brandywine Administrative Office Date Available: 6/2024 Closing Date: 05/01/2024 District: Brandywine School District Job Goal: To provide opportunities for every student to acquire the knowledge, skill, mental attitudes, and habits necessary for the safe operation of a motor vehicle so that the student becomes the most competent, skillful, responsible driver possible. Job Qualifications:
Must be and remain Delaware certified or eligible for Delaware teacher certification in Secondary Teacher of Driver Education and Traffic Safety Education Teacher.
Must have a current valid driver's license which shall remain valid for the duration of employment.
Must have a driving record with no more than five (5) points.
Shall have a driver's license that has not been suspended, revoked or disqualified in this State or any other jurisdiction for moving violations in the last five years.
Essential Functions:
The Summer Program Driver Education Teacher will play a vital role in facilitiating a sage and enriching learning environment for students. This position requires a dedicated educator who can effectively instruct students from diverse backgrounds, including those in alternative education, special education, and those students seeking credit recovery.
Teaches student the psychomotor skills, defensive driving techniques, and perceptive skills necessary for modern-day driving through traditional instruction through the use of the driving simulator, and on-the-road, behind-the-wheel training which is based on current Delaware law.
Teaches, supervises and tests students on proper motor vehicle operation, driving safety, Delaware State driving laws and the meaning of traditional driving signs/symbols.
Strives to instill in students attitudes and behavior conducive to safe, proper operation of a motor vehicle.
Instructs students in how to cope with typical emergencies associated with the operation of a motor vehicle.
Prepares and maintains all necessary records and reports in an accurate manner and reports all accidents and/or potential hazards to the building administration immediately, or as soon as reasonably possible.
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
Assumes responsibility for the appropriate care and maintenance of District assigned motor vehicles for Driver Education.
Communicates with students, other school personnel and parents through various means as necessary.
Is an active member of the assigned school community.
All other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
