As the Sr. Research Associate I, you will lead research initiatives within major research studies within The Lurie Institute for Disability Policy; provides day-to-day direction and project management to less experienced research staff on assigned projects. You also may serve as Principal (or Co-Principal) Investigator.
This role includes conceptualizing and performing innovative research, as well as, contributing through scholarship to enhance the relevant body of knowledge, proposal writing, data analysis, synthesis and presentation of complex and varied findings.
The Lurie Institute for Disability Policy at Brandeis University's Heller School leads research that helps shape policies, programs and practices which improve the lives of people with disabilities across the lifespan. Key Responsibilities:
  • Serves as principal investigator or co-principal investigator leading a variety of research projects. Devises optimal approaches to meet scope of work and ensure timely high-quality submissions and deliverables. Conceptualizes and oversees complex data synthesis, regression analysis, modeling, etc.
  • Develops long-term research strategy, proposals and budgets for the highest impact research projects with broad implications. Leads and oversees the writing of and securing of new grants; has accountability for growing funding base for projects. Mentors staff in the preparation of grant submission materials.
  • Authors and/or co-authors a wide variety of reports, papers and presentations; typically co-authors peer reviewed papers; presents and publishes findings.
  • Provides day-to-day direction to regular research staff and student workers on assigned projects.
  • May have full managerial responsibility.
  • Serves as liaison with key partners, stakeholders, subcontractors and other key outside personnel.
  • Performs other assignments as needed.
Education, Work Experience, and Additional Information:
PhD (or equivalent related terminal degree) plus 1-3 years' experience
Ability to act as project manager for major research center, coordinating internal and external parties and deadlines
Ability to represent Brandeis and The Lurie Institute at research conferences; communications events
Strong experience with leading research projects requiring sensitivity for human subjects
