Brain Injury Services of Southwest Virginia is Hiring a Remote CLic Facilitator (Online support group leader)

COMMUNITY LIVING CONNECTION (CLiC) is a telehealth program that brings our survivors of brain injury together through user-friendly assistive technology and the Internet to form small individual learning groups that provide support, education, social, and cognitive skill building.
The CLiC Facilitator works closely with and is directly overseen by the CLiC Project Director. Both the Brain Injury Services of Southwest Virginia (BISSWVA) Program Director and the Executive Director provide additional supervision. The CLiC Program provides brain injury education, skill development, community or other resources, and support for its participants, including survivors and caregivers. BISSWVA CLiC iterations include CLiC Foundation, CLiC Forward, CLiC Care, and other pilot programs or programs under development.
The CLiC Facilitator will be responsible for overall operation of any assigned CLiC iteration(s). Facilitator responsibilities may include (1) direct service to members, (2) implementation, revision, and / or assistance in development of CLiC curriculum, (3) establishment, maintenance and facilitation of CLiC online meetings and any activities that promote meeting effectiveness and professionalism, (4) iteration data collection or facilitation of data collection for participants, (5) timely reporting of data or information to administration or other BISSWVA staff, (6) maintaining and successfully implementing up-to-date knowledge of online meeting software and BISSWVA productivity tools, (7) timely reporting of technical issues and collaborative troubleshooting, (8) implementation of all BISSWVA confidentiality, safety, ethical, and / or other general policies, (9) maintaining current knowledge of brain injury, (10) other administrative operations as delegated by the CLiC Project Director, Program Director, or Executive Director.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
This position will require the individual to work closely with the CLiC Project Director and CLiC IT Specialist with additional supervision from the Program Director and Executive Director. The CLiC Facilitator will also work closely with survivors of brain injury and / or caregivers, client case managers, information technology personnel, and assessment personnel.
Examples of Duties:
Guided by the mission and values of the organization, the CLiC Facilitator shall perform, at a minimum but not limited to the following:
  • Oversee the establishment of and client access to the CLiC meeting space; maintain a professional environment conducive to the established iteration goals
  • Communicate frequently in and out of session with clients to promote optimal attendance, engagement, and participation
  • Coordinate efforts with the IT specialist to address and resolve technical issues in a timely fashion
  • Facilitate CLiC meetings through the implementation of CLiC curriculum and any related schedules
  • Facilitate iteration data collection, including tasks such as attendance and participation tracking and facilitation of periodic in-class assessments
  • Competently utilize BISSWVA productivity tools to access needed files and share data with administration and other BISSWVA staff
  • Work cooperatively with CLiC and BISSWVA staff to establish and maintain iteration rosters
  • Perform administrative tasks that support the goals of the company and program
  • Participate as requested in any formalized testing and data collection
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
Knowledge Base:
Knowledge of brain injury and other neurological disorders. Knowledge of principles, practices, and methods of operating an interactive program for adults with disabilities. Knowledge of physical, cognitive, psychological, emotional, and/or communication disabilities. Knowledge of basic behavioral management interventions. Ability to quickly develop competency with needed technology (training provided), including email communications, videoconferencing and related tools or software, and BISSWVA productivity tools. Ability to establish and maintain effective, professional relationships with clients, caregivers, and the public. Ability to communicate spoken or written information clearly.
Job Requirements:
Intermediate level computer skills; valid driver’s license; access to a personal vehicle. Must undergo criminal background check and drug testing. Complex problem-solving and reasoning required. Requires ability to communicate verbally with clients, caregivers, staff, visitors, consultants, specialists and surveyors; to distinguish colors in an emergency; lift 30 pounds and be in physical and psychological health status necessary to perform all essential job functions. Must be able to read, write and proofread at a professional level. Must be able to multitask efficiently. Must be adept in utilization of email systems, Microsoft software (Excel and Word), and must be able to quickly acquire and maintain technical competency with online videoconferencing software and BISSWVA productivity tools (training provided).
