Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant for a traumatic brain injury research project. This role has a 13-month contract. Under the direction of the Project Director and the TBI Fund Administration, the Temporary Research Assistant is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the New Jersey TBI needs assessment study. This project is part of a larger grant focusing on increasing access to TBI services and making TBI care more equitable in NJ.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Conduct a literature review on TBI and access to services and provide suggestions for social media campaigns based on findings of the literature review.
• Perform phone interviews with survivors, caregivers, and service providers for the study.
• Plan and execute focus group sessions in various parts of New Jersey.
• Along with the Project Director, write a report on the findings from the needs assessment and determine the next steps forward including: translating the surveys to different languages to broaden the reach of the study and understand the unmet needs of the non-English speaking population, planning the state conference with stakeholders to disseminate the findings of the needs assessment, and strategizing ways to promote the findings of the study and conference.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree (BS/BA) in a related field such as public health, social work, or social sciences.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Basic to intermediate understanding of qualitative research including literature reviews, interviews, and research paper writing.
• Familiarity with using SurveyMonkey.

Travel

10% travel within NJ and once within the US.
