Brailsford & Dunlavey is Hiring a Senior Project Manager Near Costa Mesa, CA

Brailsford and Dunlavey is seeking a highly skilled senior project manager to join our growing team in Costa Mesa, CA. Position Purpose

The senior project manager will provide oversight management of CIG (Collegiate Implementation Group) project managers, on-site staff, and prospective project managers as they work on specific campus design and construction projects, focusing on technical quality assurance and leadership skills. The senior project manager is typically the primary interface with the client and is charged with effectively managing that relationship, as well as engaging in business development opportunities.

Position Responsibilities

  • Manages a portfolio of higher education capital construction assignments. Closely monitors his/her assignments and ensures successful and timely completion of project management tasks and responsibilities.
  • Directs, supervises and manages the performance of multiple project teams.
  • Monitors and evaluates performance of staff, rewarding or correcting behavior(s) as appropriate. Ensures that appropriate written documentation on employee performance is maintained.
  • Manages the financial and accounting requirements of client service, to include scope development and pricing, client invoicing and collection activities, and account reconciliation and close-out. Ensures that receivables are accurate payments and are kept current.
  • Serves as the primary client contact and trusted advisor, communicating as needed to ensure appropriate information sharing and follow through.
  • Actively participates in B&D’s business development efforts to include assisting with marketing activities, cultivating new opportunities, nurturing existing client relationships, presenting at conferences, writing articles, and participating in interviews.
  • Maintains and stores all records, research, and data related to assigned projects. Ensures the firm’s legal and fiduciary responsibilities are well managed.
  • Directs quality control and client satisfaction activities specific to his/her assigned projects.
  • Actively assists with the recruitment and training of new staff.
  • Participates in all appropriate staff meetings and training programs.
  • Assists with the company’s research and development efforts by identifying new analytical tools, strengthening existing tools and models, or discovering improved ways of doing business.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by his/her supervisor or owners.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The senior project manager will manage a team of project managers or other staff on a project-by-project basis.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction management, engineering, real estate management, or related field.
  • Minimum ten years full-time construction administration, pre-construction, implementation-based consulting or related experience on complex multi-phase projects and/or projects over $30M.
  • Proven experience in leading a small team of employees.
  • Valid driver’s license for travel in the United States is required.
  • Willingness to travel up to 33% of weekly hours.
  • Familiarity with A/E and Construction Contract Language
  • Experience developing design key performance indicators.
  • Development and management of full project cost and budget tracking tools and processes
  • Familiarity working with AE and DM project schedule and sequencing documents.
  • Familiarity with standard construction logistics and constructability considerations.
  • Experience with navigating building codes and governmental approval processes
  • Understanding cost and labor trends and their relation to project estimate reviews
  • Knowledge of project delivery methods and an ability to advise clients on their applicability.
  • Experience soliciting project teams and third-party vendors, i.e. Architects, CM’s, Geotech’s Surveyors, etc.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC processes and tools
  • Ability to perform basic periodic design reviews.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects of significant scale.
  • Ability to be productive in a fast-paced, multi-dimensional work environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent group facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity, knowledge and understanding of individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, gender, gender identity, cultural, disability and ethical backgrounds.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Strong understanding of real estate, finance and accounting principles.
  • Demonstrated commitment to client satisfaction and ethical business practices.

The base annual salary range for this role is currently $ 130,000-145,000. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to, job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
