Job Summary -  To serve meals to restaurant guest according to established rules of etiquette. Present menu to guests, provide food and beverage suggestions, and answer questions regarding food preparation. Responsible for greeting and engaging each guest who enters the restaurant and ensuring that their breakfast or dinner experience is welcoming, positive and satisfying, and executed in accordance with property standards.

Essential Job Functions 

  • Acknowledge, greet and welcome all guest who approach or enter the restaurant.
  • Demonstrate a perfect knowledge of all items featured in our menus in order to be knowledgeable to customers. 
  • Present menu, answer questions, and suggest food and beverage items. Take food and beverage orders.
  • Checking identification to ensure customers are the legal age to purchase alcohol. 
  • Ring orders into POS systemin a timely manner, ensuring accuracy of information.
  • Communicates directly with back-of-the-house staff to ensure that orders are delivered correctly and special requests are accommodated. Serve food to guests. 
  • Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction. 
  • Remain attentive to guests, adhering to or exceeding service standards.
  • Monitor the alcohol intake of guests in accordance with licensing regulations. 
  • Ensure all guests are well attended to by monitoring all areas of the restaurant, including courtyard, porch, etc. 
  • Clear and cleans tables; reset counters and tables.
  • Maintain wait station by keeping area tidy and stock glasses, silverware, and other related supplies. 
  • Performs restaurant opening and closing procedures. 
  • Maintain sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas.
  • Keep breakage to a minimum by handling china, glassware and fragile equipment with care.
  • Sweep and mop floors. Keep floors clean and dry, pick up wet spills immediately. 
  • Pitch in to help with special and deep cleaning projects. 
  • Maintain and promote a positive and cooperative work relationship with all hotel departments. 
  • Follow all procedures and policies set forth by the company, and department. 
  • Ensure both cash and charge tips are reported properly for tax processing.
  • Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register, be able to account for any discrepancies.

Supervisory Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for overall efficiency of the restaurant.
  • Train new servers. 

Work Environment 

  • Most work is performed indoors. Service is required to outdoor seating area.
  • At times exposed to noisy kitchens and distracting sound levels, especially during busy times. 

Physical Demands 

  • Ability to go up and down stairs often during shift, sometimes with large, heavy items. 
  • Requires regular listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. 
  • Requires ability to reach, bend, stoop kneel, and frequently lift up to 40 pounds intermittently during the work shift.
  • Requires ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time 
  • Must have finger, hand and upper body dexterity to operate food machinery, grasp dishes, push, pull, carry and lift racks, carts, and large trash bins.
  • Must have moderate hearing to hear customers, supervisors, and communicate with other staff.
  • Must have moderate comprehension and literacy to read use records and all special requests. 
  • Must have ability to perform multiple tasks at one time, must be able to follow verbal and written instruction, and be able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be highly organized and able to pay attention to sound and sight details in crowded and noisy situations, particularly when handling multiple tasks.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, reach & retrieve items from above head.

Expected Work Hours and Location: 

  • Work is any time during operational hours to include morning, nights, weekends, and holidays. 
  • Possibility of working weekly hours work to extend beyond 40. 
  • One Location – Bradford House 

Education and Experience: 

  • 3-5 years of food and beverage experience in a guest focused environment. 
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Safety training and any required food and alcohol handling certificates. 
  • Familiarity with hospitality industry. 

Other Eligibility Qualifications: 

  • Legally eligible to work in the United States. 
  • Strong computer skills. 
  • Able to read and speak the English language well. 
  • Able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening. 
  • Reliable transportation. 

Pay: 

  • $7.00 per hour plus 100% pooled tip evenly split amongst Front of House staff per shift. 

Hours: 

  • Wednesday-Sunday 4:30pm-11pm – 32.5 hours per week. 

Employee Discounts: 

  • Restaurant: All employees will receive 50% off food for themselves and 30% off food for up to five (5) guests. The employee must always be accompanying their guest. No alcohol is discounted for employees or their guests ever.
  • Hotel: All employees will receive 35% off the posted Best Available Rate for a maximum number of 10 room nights per calendar year. The employee may stay themselves or offer to a friend or family member.
