Boys & Girls Clubs of the Great Lakes Bay Region is Hiring a Finance Manager Near Bay, MI

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Under the supervision of and with guidance from the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Finance Director plans, organizes, and provides direction to and personally performs professional level work in support of all Club financial activities. The position coordinates the production and the administration of the Club’s budget and provides counsel to management in the development and implementation of policies and practices that comply with all applicable regulations and are consistent with Boys & Girls Club’s mission and values. The Finance Director manages all financial functions including accounting, payroll, financial operations and grant compliance.

MAJOR DUTIES AND SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include but not limited to the following:

Leadership

  • Establish and implement policies and procedures for all financial management functions, ensuring appropriate controls and compliance with generally accepted accounting practices
  • Work closely with Club leadership and managers
  • Maintain, analyze, and interpret general ledger for all funds
  • Manage the preparation and analysis of financial reports on a monthly and as needed basis

Strategic Planning

  • Collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer and leadership to develop annual income and expense budget. Provide timely and complete reporting of financial results and recommendations for necessary actions to maintain the fiscal health of the Club
  • Oversee the process for identifying and evaluating opportunities for improved financial operations, recordkeeping and reporting, working with external auditors to prepare and review audit schedules and annual report of audit findings

Resource Management

  • Prepares or directs the preparation and reconciliation of journals, ledgers, and other accounting records; prepares or directs the preparation of records and reports for submission to various regulatory, granting, and other governmental agencies
  • Lead organizational planning and development of budgets, and work with other managers to control expenditures against budget
  • Ensure the maintenance of financial records and recordkeeping systems to ensure compliance with all regulations, generally accepted accounting practices, and requirements of government contracts
  • Organizes and directs accounts receivable, accounts payable, reporting, payroll, taxation, fee collection, and related financial functions
  • Coordinate specified risk management activities, including the procurement of appropriate insurance coverage with the CEO

General/Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote high ethical and professional standards in all activities and with all agency staff
  • Manages payroll with COO
  • Train staff in proper procedures regarding cash receipts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and budgeting as needed or requested
  • Attend meetings of Board of Directors and Finance Committee an advisory role, as requested
  • Assist Unit Directors in budget preparation and management, as requested.
  • Participate in professional meetings and workshops to advance professional growth
  • Ensure that supervisor is informed of any recurring or significant problems in a timely manner

Position Requirements:

Education

Bachelor’s degree

Experience

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, or business administration.

A minimum of three years of progressively responsible work experience managing the accounting functions in a non-profit agency, or equivalent experience. Thorough knowledge of budgeting and accounting practices, processes and procedures of non-profit organizations.

  • Valid Michigan's State Driver’s License and a clean driving record

RELATIONSHIPS:

External: Maintain contact with other Clubs, vendors, consultants, organizations, parents and general public to achieve program goals and objectives, manage costs, share information and resolve problems.
