Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine is Hiring a Youth Program Assistant - South Portland Near South Portland, ME

YOUTH PROGRAM ASSISTANT

Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine: Rewarding part-time position for a fun, high-energy, versatile team player working with the Clubhouse team to supervise a group of members and deliver a daily schedule of programs and activities.

Club Location: South Portland

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support the Unit Director in the implementation of a daily program schedule for Club members that supports youth development outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development of a fun, safe and positive community by maintaining routines, procedures, and behavior expectations.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Clubhouse colleagues.
  • Assist with mealtime routines, including serving food and monitoring students.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of program areas and ensures equipment is clean and in good working condition.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one year of work experience in Boys & Girls Club, youth organizations, school system or similar organization.
  • Experience supervising youth in programmatic setting.
  • Must have a passion for educating and inspiring young minds.
  • Clean driving record and ability to drive a passenger van.
  • Students working towards a degree in Education or similar program are encouraged to apply.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to manage classroom dynamics and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Patience, empathy, and understanding when working with students of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Interests in music, arts and/or physical education.
  • STEM education

Schedule/Perks:

  • School Year: Monday through Friday approximately 20 hours per week – 2p-6p,
  • Summer: daytime hours up to 30 hours
  • Team orientated work environment.
  • Maine Earned Paid Leave -up to 40 hours per year based on hours worked.
  • Starting at $16.50 per hour; based on experience
