BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF PALM BEACH COUNTY JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Career Bound Manager
Department: Programming
Reports to: Senior Career Bound Director and Club Director
Exempt/Non-Exempt: Exempt

Primary Function:

The Career Bound (CB) Manager implements, manages, and facilitates Career Bound, a college and workforce readiness program within their assigned Clubs, focused primarily on helping high school members achieve on-time graduation, fully prepared to pursue their college or career plans. The CB Manager creates an inclusive Academic, Career and College Readiness culture with Club leadership, Club staff and all members. In reporting to the Senior CB Manager, the CB Manager helps to inform the continued evolution and expansion of the CB program, together with entire the CB team. The CB Manager ensures timely outcome measurement according the contractual agreements associated with a diverse portfolio of grants.

Key Roles (Essential Responsibilities):

  • Guides members in career and college exploration and developing their Personalized Academic and Career Plans;
  • Ensures members engage in post-secondary preparation and completion/submission of college application and FAFSA submission;
  • Hires and manages part-time certified teacher (CB Coach), who provide individualized and/or group academic tutoring or tutoring referrals, lead SAT/ACT preparation and essay writing instruction, and coach members regarding academic and post-secondary planning.
  • Supports the CB Coach in identifying scholarship opportunities, tracking process for completed applications, and award recognition for all members.
  • Organizes and leads college tours, delivers BGCA curricula, and implements Team Teen Critical Mentoring program.
  • Manage the Youth Volunteer Corps, Keystone Club, Youth of the Year competition, and graduation celebrations.
  • Hire and efficiently manage a maximum of (6) Jr. Staff during Summer Camp.
  • Support and manage AmeriCorps members assigned to support the CB program in collaboration with AmeriCorps Program Manager
  • Conduct or cohost quarterly teen and family workshops on financial planning, making college a reality, FAFSA, and additional topics, as needed.
  • Manage program & project-specific budget(s), following a pre-determined spending schedule.
  • Maintain a universal system of outcome measurement processes, including collecting members’ academic records, report card grades, attendance, pre and post-tests, surveys, and any additional items necessary to provide evidence of measurable outcomes.
  • Work with School District, staff and members to collect members’ progress reports and final report cards at the end of grading periods.
  • Participate in local collective impact efforts related to this work, such as Future Leaders, Achieve Palm Beach County and Birth to 22—United for Brighter Futures.
  • Serve as the content expert or project lead for core CB component or special project, as assigned by Senior CB Director. These include Youth of the Year program, Jr. Staff Summer Employment, Critical Mentoring, College Tours, College & Career Resource Fairs, Speakers Series and Internship Placements, College Signing Day/ Graduation Celebrations, and Teen Summits.
  • Support other CB Managers serving as project leads.
  • Develop universal and club specific Teen Program Monthly Calendar and distribute across all Teen-Serving clubs, promoting cross-Club collaboration.
  • Remain informed about BGCA workforce readiness, family, and service learning initiatives by routinely accessing www.BGCA.net, and remain apprised of current research in these fields.

Relationships:

  • Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with club staff, and supervisor to receive/provide information and discuss issues.
  • External: Maintain contact and build relationships with community groups, schools external staff, volunteers and others to recruit or to assist in resolving challenges.

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • BA/BS Degree from an accredited, four-year university or college in a field related to education (or combination of AA degree and 5 years of youth development experience).
  • Possession of Florida Teaching Certificate desired.
  • Project Management processes and concept development knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge of post-secondary education application and FAFSA process.
  • Knowledge of Palm Beach County high school education system and related resources.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop & implement programs, including overseeing staff.
  • Understanding of and commitment to outcome measurement.
  • Experience working with at-risk youth.
  • Strong personal commitment to BGCPBC’s mission and vision.
  • Energetic collaborator skilled in building and facilitating relationships with BGCPBC staff, external staff, external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in mission advancement.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • CDL desired but not required.

  • Ability to operate a large vehicle and obtain a CDL desired but not required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 per year
