Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford & Cecil Counties is Hiring an Area Manager Near Harford, MD

Mission: To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsible for managing the strategic planning, operation and expansion of services using Club(s) on the Go mobile programming, in support of the organizational mission and goals in Harford & Cecil counties. Reports to and collaborates with the Director of Community Based Programming in executing strategic growth of programs and impact on designated area of service. Provides direction to staff in carrying out the key roles assigned to them.

KEY ROLES:

Leadership

1. Ensure the effective operation and delivery of programs within the designated geographic area assigned:

  • Support the organization’s mission and principles
  • Maintain an environment that prioritizes safety
  • Facilitates the achievement of youth development outcomes
  • Implement programs, services and activities that support youth development outcomes
  • Recruit, train and retain youth development professionals responsible for daily operations.
  • When necessary, discipline and/or terminate employees
  • Establish and monitor school/community based programs

Programming

1. Ensure high-quality, high-yield Boys & Girls Club programming

  • Utilize all tools, webinars, evidence based programs and basic programming offered via the Boys & Girls Clubs of America website.
  • Research and utilize other programming sources
  • Ensure that staff provides and documents program plans within agreed upon timeline

2. Conduct program evaluations to prove efficacy of BGC programs on social and emotional health of Club kids.

Technology

1. Demonstrate a working knowledge of basic technology skills; Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, virtual platforms, internet and phone systems and basic automotive maintenance.

2. Ensure the maintenance of Club technology and information management systems to include membership forms, attendance, permission forms, etc.

Marketing and Public Relations

1. Increase visibility of Club branding, programs, services and activities and maintain positive public relations.

Relationships:

1. Internal: Maintain consistent contact with direct supervisor, staff, volunteers, and club members.

2. External: Establish and maintain consistent contact with community partners, potential and current donors, external community groups, parents, school officials, service clubs, and others as required.

Additional responsibilities:

May be assigned special projects periodically.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Experience in Youth Development Services
  • Associates degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in managing programs or operations in a non-profit agency or Boys and Girls Club; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement effective operations.
  • Leadership skills, including negotiation, problem solving, decision making.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, community groups, and other related agencies.
  • Basic knowledge of asset management including financial resources and property.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
