Boys & Girls Clubs of Cascade County is Hiring a Kitchen Assistant Near Great Falls, MT

Job Description

The Kitchen Assistant will help the kitchen manager and other kitchen staff meet the rising demand in our food programs. The Kitchen Assistant will work closely with the Kitchen manager to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of food to all youth served in meal and food pantry services. The hours typically are from 10-5 pm, Monday through Friday. This position does have the ability to have up to 40 hours in the summer.

Responsibilities

Performs any combination of the following duties to maintain kitchen work areas, equipment and utensils in clean and orderly condition:

  • Sweeps and mops floors.
  • Washes dishes, worktables, walls, refrigerators, and other kitchen surfaces.
  • Removes trash and garbage and places it in designated containers.
  • Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas by hand or by use of hand truck.
  • Sets up and sanitizes tables.
  • Maintain a clean, well-ordered area. Ensure maintenance and cleanliness of the food pantry
  • Washes and prepares a variety of foods under the direction of the kitchen manager.
  • Loads or unloads trucks picking up or delivering supplies and food.
  • Stock shelves and ensure all food is sorted and stored in a safe and sanitary manner
  • Storing ingredients and food items according to food safety standards.
  • Organize packing for food boxes.
  • Pickup, receive and record food donations
  • Follow food service safety policies and procedures
  • Assisting the management of documents and paperwork, including food inventory and food log sheets
  • Handle the intake process according to the company’s procedures
  • Monitor youth during meal times and provide guidance as needed

We would love to see that you have

  • Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Strong communication and leadership skills – position requires the ability to interact and communicate with staff, volunteers, and community (pantry clients and donors).
  • Knowledge of safety, storage practices, and inventory management preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record preferred
  • Strong organization and time management skills required.
  • Able to work as a collaborative team member in delivering customer service.
  • In order to be able to work as a food pantry assistant, you need to possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Certified in food handling safety standards desired (will provide training if needed).
