Job Title: Teen Coordinator

Date: April 2024

Job Grade/Classification: Non-Exempt Reporting Structure: This position reports to the Marietta Program Coordinator.

Hours: Full-time position: 30 -35 hours a week, Monday – Friday from 1 pm – 6:30 pm, some weekends and events

Pay scale: $14.50 - $16.50 based on education and experience;

Job Summary: This position provides program and activities planning for the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County Ohio (BGCWCOH). The incumbent creates and administers youth programs and activities daily. This position is responsible for setting up events and guest speakers that relate to helping our teens in the workforce and bringing our community’s teens together. This position is responsible for handling time-sensitive and confidential material, effectively communicating and ensuring duties are completed accurately, timely and delivered with a high degree of quality

Responsibilities, Duties & Accountabilities:

The core, critical and essential work duties, functions, and responsibilities of the position are as follows:

  • Plans and implements BGCWCOH programs such as outreach and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) activities and services, working with youth members to provide a teaching, mentoring, safe and life enriching experience;
  • Develops and implements plans for music, educational, structured learning and recreation;
  • Utilizes targeted programming to promote youth member participation and ongoing interest;
  • Create a routine monthly and daily activities and events plans for learning, play and fun;
  • Teaches youth members relevant lessons of planned activities;
  • Provides direction, guidance and mentoring to youth members in order to enhance their knowledge and strengthen their skills and abilities;
  • Monitors and evaluates programs, activities to develop and provide leadership with trend data to make suggestions and provide reporting for audits and grant information;
  • Works with leadership, staff and parents regarding child development, specific and individual needs and behavioral issues;
  • Collaborates with and shares ideas and suggestions with peers, staff members and leadership;
  • Ensures the youth members receive the optimal opportunities for learning, growth and development;
  • Works with all staff to ensure responsibilities are completed in the best interest of the youth members;
  • Ensures each youth member is greeted, treated with respect and kindness, and demonstrates these values with other staff members;
  • Listens to youth members ideas, suggestions, and concerns, and providing encouragement and support; keeping leadership updated with regards to serious or significant matters;
  • Communicates with parents to ensure the most beneficial outcomes for individual youth members;
  • Mentors and leads Youth Development Professionals and Support staff members and volunteers;
  • Addresses the day-to-day requests, issues, and concerns, reporting significant issues to leadership;
  • Coordinates and serves snacks, beverages, and dinner set-ups, ensuring youth members receive assigned daily nutrition;
  • Ensures and effective and efficient use of resources;
  • Promotes and provides mentorship for a safe and healthy environment; Provides routine updates and reports to the Program Coordinator;
  • Complies with required protocols and the standard operating procedures (SOP’s) for the organization’s programs;
  • Complies with Mandatory Reporting requirements and procedures;
  • Administers Safety Programs, BGCA programs and requirements;
  • Provides support to the team to organize and coordinate fundraising events and activities;
  • Drives organizational vehicles to provide transportation as needed;
  • Takes a proactive, positive and sincere interest in our youth members, ensuring continuity of the organization’s long-standing relationship with the community;
  • Maintains utmost discretion in dealing with sensitive, proprietary and confidential matters related to the organization;
  • Maintains regular and routine attendance and punctuality as required;
  • Available and willing to work evenings, week-ends and some holidays;
  • Performs other projects and duties as assigned.

Position Rules:

  • The incumbent will abide by all state laws, including but not limited to: o No texting while operating a motor vehicle
  • No distracted driving
  • No unauthorized individuals in vehicles
  • No eating or smoking in the vehicle
  • No personal use of vehicle and no personal stops or errands without prior management approval
  • To maintain clean vehicle, free of refuse or rubbish
  • Responsible handling of money and accurate, daily reconciliation of money due back to the store
  • To immediately call law enforcement if a vehicular accident occurs, following law enforcement’s direction, then contacting management as soon after law enforcement is notified

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Must be 21 Years of Age
  • Valid, Current Driver’s License with successful driving record
  • High School Diploma or Equivalence; Preferred Qualification: Associate degree in childhood education
  • Minimum 1-2 year of demonstrated experience working with in Early Childhood or other Education, Business, Management or non-profit agencies
  • Public Administration, or non-profit agencies
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the Boys & Girls Club of America (BGCA) policies, procedures and requirements
  • Demonstrated excellent computer skills, preferably experience working with Microsoft Office products, office systems and programs, and the ability to successfully navigate and maintain current knowledge and skills working with technology
  • Demonstrated experience working with the general public and the above average ability to tactfully and professionally address public concerns and complaints
  • Demonstrated ability to work within established project timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated above-average verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion in working with confidential and other sensitive information
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain organized and prioritized workloads and manage multiple tasks and projects at one time
  • Demonstrated ability to lead others, demonstrating professionalism and effective work relationships with coworkers
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory and required punctuality and attendance, and the ability to work flexible schedules with occasional evenings and/or weekends
  • Must successfully pass initial and annual Criminal Background Check and the Sex Offender Registry as required by the Boys and Girls Club of Washington County Ohio (BGCWCOH) in compliance with federal, state and local governing agencies
