This is a part-time / non-exempt position with approx. 10-15 hours/week.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The School Age Assistant Group Leader is responsible for ensuring a quality afterschool experience for our youngest members. They must be enthusiastic, dependable and have a passion for working with children. The position's key function is to supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children as individuals and as a group. The Assistant Group Leader provides assistance and support to their Group Leader as program activities and programs are developed and implemented with members.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
● Ensure the health, safety and well-being of participants in the program, by providing appropriate supervision at all times.
● Prepare the learning environment, lessons and necessary supplies for program activities.
● Support the coordination and presentation of a culminating performance at the end of the program cycle for members’ families.
● Provide support to Activity Specialists with activity implementation.
● Assist children with homework and academic enhancement activities.
● Work cooperatively with program and school staff.
● Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces the diversity of all participants.
● Create and maintain a strength-based, youth-focused atmosphere that is consistent and sensitive to the needs of participants with learning, emotional, or behavioral differences.
● Serve as a positive role model for participants.
● Maintain accurate program documentation (attendance, sign in/out forms).
● Adhere to all Boys & Girls Club of Souhegan Valley policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
● Actively participate in training sessions, designated meetings and special events.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. May participate in and/or lead special programs and/or events.
2. May be required to drive a Club van.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
● Experience or education in early childhood education (ECE) or youth development.
● Proficient in Microsoft suite
● Ability to supervise and engage with Club members in the program
● CPR and First Aid Certifications a plus.
● Valid driver’s license preferred

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
