Qualifications:
Ability to be trained in First Aid/CPR
Must have a background in or pursuing a degree in elementary education or a related field.
Prior experience working with children preferred
Pursuit or possession of teaching certificate preferred
Strong communication skills
Ability to work independently and as a team
Ability to pass reference and background checks
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
Standing or walking for up to 8 hours a day
Pushing or lifting of up to 50lbs
Ability to handle high noise levels for extended periods of time
Responsibilities:
Develop programs and coordinate activities related to literacy
Develop supportive relationships with club members
Respond to communications promptly
Ensure programming follows requirements as outlined by ESSER and BGCPC
Promote and stimulate reading program participation
Work with Club members to ensure that there is a productive work environment
Ensure that all programs and activities occur daily as scheduled
Ensure an appropriate number of youth participate in each program
Able to facilitate On the Spot Fun activities when needed
Ensure all programs are safe & meaningful
Provide guidance and role modeling to Club members
Ensure participation numbers are tracked for each activity
Assist in collecting outcome data when requested
Assist in maintaining a clean, neat and properly equipped program area
Assist in keeping program supplies organized and maintained to limit wasted resources
Assist in making sure that the overall Club environment is safe and inviting for all Club Members
Encourage kids to assist in cleaning the Club
