POSITION DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Director of Operations
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Division: Operations
Status: Full-time, Salary Exempt
Compensation: $50,000-$60,000
DESCRIPTION:
Oversee operations of Clubs and programs with the primary concern for strategic planning and operations of the Club; staff development; membership administration; facility management; and program budget management. Provides leadership and direction to staff management in carrying out the key roles assigned to them. Assist in providing direction and support to the Club in developing organizational goals, attaining resources, and establishing policies.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Leadership
Oversee the implementation and planning for administering Club-wide programs and activities that support the Club Formula for Impact’s outcome-driven experience with specific attention to achieving the three priority outcomes associated with academic success, good character & citizenship and healthy lifestyles.
Establishing Club-wide program goals and maintaining an environment that ensures the health and safety of members. Ensure that site staff understands and effectively communicates standards of program; ensure program areas are safe, well ventilated and well lit; and that Club equipment is safe and maintained in good working condition.
Strategic Planning & Measurement
Engage in the Club’s implementation of their national youth outcome measurement strategy (including collecting, storing and reviewing data) and using measurement data to improve the Club experience and demonstrate impact.
Plan, develop, implement and evaluate each site’s overall programs, services & activities to ensure they meet stated objectives and member needs and interests. Compile regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance and participation.
Oversee recruitment and selection of Youth Development staff and volunteers, with the assistance of the Director of HR. Manage Youth Development staff and volunteers, ensuring productive and effective performance while providing ongoing feedback.
Develop a plan, with resources, to foster relationships with school personnel in order to continue impacting children and youth at those service locations.
Resource Management
Manage financial resources assisting in the development of annual operations budgets. Assist in controlling program expenditures against budget. Monitor budget, to include management of acquisition of supplies/materials.
Collaborates with Resource Development staff to develop grant proposals and meet grant deliverables.
Oversee the management and performance of Youth Development staff and volunteers in achieving goals, providing technical assistance in program design, development, community relations and program operations.
Plan and implement a staff development and training program, to include a focus on Club and child safety.

Partnership Development
Develop collaborative partnerships with other youth services organizations, members, parents, families, school district and community organizations.
As requested, link with external resources and community collaborations as requested by the Chief Executive Officer to further program goals.
Assist with the planning and implementation of Elected Officials day/week.
Support Board Committees, as assigned.
Marketing and Public Relations
Participate in activities to maintain good public relations and increase the visibility of programs, services and activities within the Club and the community.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure the completion of required grant reports and preparation of any interagency reports.
  • Work with staff on special events to carry out programs in all departments.
  • Exercise authority in problems relating to members; utilize guidance and discipline plan.
  • Manage all facility and maintenance.
  • Assume other duties as assigned.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with assigned staff to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information; Interacts regularly with the Senior Leadership Team and the Chief Executive Officer and as assigned with the Board and its Committees.
External: Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, members’ parents and others to assist in resolving problems and to publicize Club.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study
  • Youth development/managerial experience
  • A minimum of seven years of work experience, preferably in a Boys & Girls Clubs (or similar organization) where knowledge, experience and competency in the above key roles was
  • A minimum of five years’ work experience at a senior level where knowledge, experience and competency in the above key roles was acquired.
  • A minimum of 3 years managing a team
  • Demonstrated ability to manage employees at multiple locations including budget oversight, team development and performance management
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, subordinates, Board members, community groups, and other related agencies.
  • Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate staff.
  • Maintain active CPR & First Aid certification.
  • A valid driver's license and ability to be insured under the company's insurance policy
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work as part of a team

Serving ages 5K-18 years of age, the Club offers a wide variety of educational, recreational and social programs and gives youth the opportunities for personal growth and achievement.
