Boys & Girls Club of Manhattan is Hiring an Assistant Director Near Manhattan, KS

Title: Assistant Director

Pay Range: $15 - $18 per hour

Reports to: Center Director

Job Type: Part Time, 28 hours per week


PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Directs/manages overall daily operations of the designated site with the primary concern for programs and service delivery, supervision and training of staff, facilities management, community relations and membership administration. The Assistant Director assists in the promotion of the social, physical, and intellectual growth of the children under his/her care; and assists with a variety of administrative tasks and opening/closing the school.


KEY ROLES:

Essential Duties and Functions:

  • Staff Supervision with an emphasis on Safety and Licensing Regulations.

  • Be responsible for ensuring an educational, caring and safe environment for the children and parents.

  • Assist with maintaining staff and child files

  • Promote the positive image of the company and play a major role in making the company a provider of choice in educational programs for the communities that we service.

  • Recruit, select and retain quality staff.

  • Tour and Recruit new families

  • Assists Director with any duties needed to keep center running efficiently and effectively

  • Effectively communicate the mission, vision and values of the BGC MHK

  • Attend BGC staff meetings, one-on-ones with supervisor, community meetings and trainings as required

  • Assist in implementing quality curriculum

  • Assist in the development of training of staff and implementation of behavior response instruction and behavioral plans, as assigned, to assist higher need situations to reduce behaviors

  • Assist with resource development and family connections for

  • Administer standards of behavior and discipline to ensure the safety and well-being of students

  • Oversee proper record keeping and reporting, including activities and events conducted, breakdowns of participation figures, and any member conduct or other issues.

  • Conducts fire and tornado drills monthly.

  • Maintains the Member Tracking System

  • Assume other duties as assigned


RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal:

Maintain close contact with Club staff and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.


External:

Maintain contact with parents or guardians in order to communicate about Club activities, explain or interpret Club guidelines, and address any conduct issues relative to members.May be required to communicate with or work closely with school principals and classroom instructors.

Knowledge and Skills:

Required:

  • Demonstrated ability in working with children, parents and community leaders

  • Must have previous management experience and at least 1 year of experience working in a licensed child care facility.

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Knowledge of youth development

  • Must meet state requirements for education and additional center/school requirements for KS Program Director's Approval License for up to 100 children.

  • Ability to deal effectively with members including discipline problems

  • Ability to deal with the general public (both verbal and written)

  • Ability to supervise and motivate staff

  • Valid State Driver's License


Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, CDA, and/or experience in Youth Development, Elementary/Secondary Education or similar degree.

  • Supervisory experience.

  • CPR and First Aid Certifications (training provided)

  • Proficiency in word processing and creative computer software applications

  • Must meet state requirements for education and additional center/school requirements for KS Program Director's Approval License for up to 100 children.


Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

Working in a KDHE licensed facility, you may be required to lift and carry children, have close contact with children, Stoop/bend, walk up and down stairs, Drive a vehicle, evacuate children in an emergency, and supervise children/ engage in childcare activities.

The Boys & Girls Club strengthens the community in providing a safe, positive, constructive place for youth. Serving ages 5K-18 years of age, the Club offers a wide variety of educational, recreational and social programs and gives youth the opportunities for personal growth and achievement.
