Position: Social Worker

Location: 321 E. 111th Street, New York, New York 10029 

Pay Range: $60,000 - $80,000

Employment Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt

Founded in 1876, The Boys’ Club of New York (BCNY) is a youth development organization with the mission to empower boys and young men, ages 7 to 21, by providing effective programs and a supportive community. BCNY provides evidence-based programs to address the evolving social, emotional, health, creative, educational, and vocational needs of our members in meaningful, lasting ways. BCNY develops programs to cultivate positive qualities in members and strives to continually deepen and broaden our impact.

Job Summary 

We are a COVID-19 proactive organization that follows applicable health and safety regulations to help protect our members and staff. Reporting to the Clubhouse Director, the Social Worker will provide a range of prevention and intervention services, including trainings, workshops, and consultations for members and parents. He/she will enable staff to respond appropriately to behavioral, social, and emotional issues by providing training, coaching, and ongoing support. The Social Worker will also provide linkages and referrals to external resources when necessary. 

Job Summary

BCNY is a COVID-19 proactive organization that follows applicable health and safety regulations to help protect our members and staff. To that end, we require that all BCNY full-time employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. BCNY requires all full-time staff to receive a booster shot that protects against COVID-19 once they become eligible. New full-time employees will be asked to submit proof of full vaccination prior to their start date. BCNY treats proof of vaccination confidentially and consistent with applicable law, and will not use the information for any purpose other than to ensure compliance with BCNY’s mandatory vaccination policy. Part time employees are strongly encouraged but not required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support program staff to identify and address member behavioral, social, and emotional issues 
  • Develop and facilitate group discussions, workshops, and activities for members and families
  • Provide crisis intervention, mediation, and conflict resolution support for members ages 7-21
  • Cultivate partnerships with external organizations for referrals and community events
  • Provide short-term counseling to members and families to determine external referral needs
  • Refer members and families to appropriate external community resources and services
  • Design program activities to promote social and emotional learning and growth
  • Maintain records for planning, management, and evaluation
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate level social work interns

Qualifications

  • LMSW preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish/English or Mandarin/English preferred 
  • 1-2 years’ experience working with children and young adults
  • SIFI certification preferred
  • Prior experience with outreach and developing community partnerships desired
  • Self-motivated, organized team-player with strong interpersonal skills 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
