POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Education Director
DEPARTMENT: Program
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Youth Program Services Director
TYPICAL WORK SCHEDULE: School year Monday – Friday, Hours vary between 11am and 7pm
Summer Monday – Friday, Hours vary between 7:30am and 5:30pm
Occasional nights and weekends with proper notice
Primary Purpose
The Education Director has delegated responsibility for collaborating with community partners and volunteers to plan and implement high-level programs, services and educational experiences for the youth and teen membership of BGCNN. These programs/services will be consistent with the organization’s youth development mission and goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Enthusiastically greet members upon arrival.
  • Complete for review, a weekly program/lesson plan.
  • Post approved monthly program schedule/calendar at club sites.
  • Initiate, implement, and evaluate comprehensive, age-appropriate programs, services, and activities for youth.
  • Work with the Club Program Directors to assist as requested in providing supervision of YDP’s.
  • Establish a positive, attractive, and safe club environment for both BGCNN staff and membership.
  • Provide leadership and encouragement to youth.
  • Complete membership, program, and other required reports in a timely manner.
  • Provide assistance to all Program Directors, Operations Director and other staff as needed.
  • Consistent enforcement of club rules within the unit.
  • Position yourself in your program area to continually monitor and supervise the safety and behavior of members.
  • Institute and implement Brain Gain during the 8-week summer schedule.
  • Have set hours and programs for Northumberland youth and teen programs on a weekly basis.
  • Assist in Identifying, recruiting, and developing Youth of the Year candidates.
  • Ensure the equipment is in good condition. Notify Program Director and Program Quality Control Director when repairs are needed, or equipment needs replacement.
  • Update Educational bulletin boards or Wall decoration on a regular basis.
  • Recognize youth on an ongoing basis for their achievements.
  • Utilize “active listening” skills in interacting with members.
  • Record behavior incidents and achievements and share with Program Directors. Youth are both Recognized for their efforts and held accountable for behavior.
  • Actively participate in organizational Leadership Team meetings and trainings.
  • Attends all staff meetings.
  • All other duties as assigned. 
CERTIFICATION/ASSOCIATION:
  • Must be able to be registered by our organization with Boys & Girls Clubs of America (www.mybgca.net).
  • Complete required assigned trainings.
  • Will be required to gain First Aid and CPR Certifications.
  • The ability to earn a valid CDL Driver’s License with Passenger & Air Brake Endorsement to assist in the transportation of members is strongly encouraged.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • A bachelor’s degree and/or experience equivalent is preferred.
  • Demonstrated programming development and project management skills to meet the needs of youth.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and meet goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to direct and supervise program staff
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Previous success in youth program development.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Must be able to perform duties which require prolonged standing, walking, talking, hearing, standing, sitting, bending for long periods of time. May occasionally be required to kneel, run and/or climb.
  • Must be able to use the telephone and other office equipment.
  • Must be able to lift, move, manipulate and or hold objects up to 25 pounds. Objects that exceed the 25-pound weight limit require additional assistance when moving, lifting, or manipulating.
