OverviewAs an Assistant Controller you are responsible for supporting the Controller and assisting with the leadership of the finance team. This hands-on role will actively participate in financial tasks to help meet the business needs of the following areas: Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Banking and Cash Management, and some Homeowner Accounting. The Assistant Controller plays a key role in the success of the financial team working with department leaders, auditors, vendors, owners, and guests. To be successful in this role one must practice servant leadership, have a diligent work ethic, be detail-oriented, be a team-player and be well-organized.

ResponsibilitiesThe Assistant Controller's typical Operational job functions include:
  • Assist and support the Controller in producing information that is accurate, timely and in usable format to meet financial reporting deadlines.
  • Responsible for reviewing and managing daily operational data through bookkeeping and ensuring data integrity and accuracy including Accounts Receivable, write-offs, collections.
  • Prepares daily revenue/labor comparisons in areas of income and payroll with comparisons.
  • Develops and maintains job documentation and procedures to ensure understanding, accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of job assignments and allowing for proper cross training.
  • Creates and processes journal entries, purchase orders, reconciliations, etc.
  • Prepare and/or file a variety of reports/forms including monthly/quarterly sales/annual/use tax, quarterly Owner Revenues Reconciliation and processing, airport tax reports.
  • Assist the Controller with preparation of budgets, review/development of ROIs, and prepare necessary supporting documentation and justification. Assist in the month-end/year-end closing and financial reporting process including account analysis and reconciliations.
  • Assist with bi-annual audit schedule along with preparation of documentation, testing, and walk-throughs.
  • Prepare and distribute vendor and owner 1099’s for 3 companies, along with other various filings.
  • Assist in supporting resort operations, which includes forward thinking for seasonal needs and other day to day operational questions.

  • Foster a caring safety culture within the department to achieve the goal of zero work related injuries.
QualificationsThis position may for you if:
  • You have achieved a BS/BA degree in accounting, finance, or relevant field required plus at least two years of experience in hospitality accounting and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • You have solid knowledge of GAAP and accounting & financial processes
  • You are able to effectively supervise up to 12 team members; a minimum of 1 year prior supervisory experience preferred
  • You consistently display the willingness and ability to make timely decisions; exhibit sound and accurate judgment; support and explain reasoning for decisions while including appropriate people in decision-making process
  • You demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills (English); bi-lingual is desired
  • You are detail oriented, organized, and able to quickly prioritize tasks and adapt accordingly
  • You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic and collaborative environment
  • You enjoy working a flexible schedule, including weekends, with varying hours based on season and project demands
