Boy Scouts of America is Hiring a Program Administration Specialist Near Cimarron, NM

Position Overview

Philmont is currently seeking a Program Administration Specialist to support and administer one of the core programs by providing resources and training tools to support quality council and district operations. The role manages the daily work activities of a major program, section, or special interest group, serves as the liaison and oversees the execution of programs and services for an assigned constituency group, and represents the interests of the assigned constituency group, both inside and outside of the organization. The Program Administration Specialist serve as the subject-matter expert to the field, actively promoting new training materials and delivery methods in all local councils.

This position reports to the Director of Camping and manages the daily operations of the Personnel Operations of Philmont Scout Ranch and manages the daily operations of the Basecamp Operations during the summer. The Program Administration Specialist, Associate Director of Camping will lead the Base Camp Operations, comprised of up to 120 seasonal employees providing a world class High Adventure experience to over 15,000 participants. This person will also be responsible for the managing the hiring process of over 1,100 seasonal employees, including the management of recruiting and when needed discipline of seasonal employees.

Responsibilities
  • Develops and updates all volunteer training-related materials. Reviews and recommends the best practices on relevant training and how they relate to recruitment and retention of volunteers.
  • Provides support to councils and districts through council visits, review, and training.
  • Administers the national service fee program in cooperation with all councils.
  • Administers and supports major initiatives in support of quality programs and quality unit service.
  • Visits councils to participate in different training activities and acts upon innovative ideas to improve the program.
  • Advises the relevant training committee and various task forces within the committee regarding the program and opportunities for growth and delivery improvement.
  • Actively prospects, recruits, and trains staff members for the other program participation.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Competencies:
Knowledge of: Learning management systems, instructional design, and e-learning platforms; systemic design of training programs to meet organizational needs.

Skill in: Verbal and written communications; collaborating; initiating action; and continuous improvement. Proficient in word processing and presentation software.

Ability to:Plan and organize; maintain quality; handle multiple assignments and assess and analyze data; work with a team and have attention to detail; and strive for personal growth.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business Administration or related field.
Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience in training or related field.
  • Must pass a criminal history background check.

Preferences: BSA Commissioned or Certified Professional.
