Boy Scouts of America: Mid-Iowa Council is Hiring a Membership specialist Near Des Moines, IA

Overview :

Join a progressive youth organization that values citizenship, leadership and an appreciation of the outdoors. Mid Iowa Council, Scouting America is based out of Des Moines and serves youth in central and south-central Iowa.

We are looking for a dynamic and outgoing professional to join our professional team with the purpose of growing Scouting within a defined service area.

Our professionals have the responsibility for working with volunteer committees and community leaders to identify, recruit, train, guide and inspire them to become involved in excellent and proven youth programs.

Responsibilities

  • Implement an integrated marketing plan that focuses on growing membership and communicating the impact of Mid-Iowa Council and includes objectives to elevate awareness, influence action, and build / sustain membership growth in the area.
  • Work in collaboration with the other departments to ensure messages are clear, compelling, and tied to the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Build and work with a team of volunteers to help complete the functions of the coordinated growth effort in their area.
  • Responsible for membership growth in their service area. There are some established ways we grow membership, but we are looking for someone who possesses creative ideas and a passion for success and helping people.
  • Provide quality service through timely communication, recruitment events and developing a plan for units. This person would also work with many volunteer committees to help with unit service and being helpful with questions.
  • Effectively write and report on community foundation grants. Excellent written and presentation skills are needed.

Qualifications

Minimum of

3 years of sales experience is required

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must enjoy working with people and helping families
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and ability to multi-task
  • Possess reliable personal transportation
  • Able to lift 20 lbs. unassisted from the floor to table
