Overview

Technical Writer I (E30-2024-20612):

Bowhead seeks a part-time Technical Writer I for work on NSWC Dahlgren supporting the E30 Gun Weapon Systems Division to join our team. The position is fully funded. The Technical Writer I performs work relating to technical documentation review, formatting, and editing. The Technical Writer I reports to a Team Lead.

Responsibilities

  • Performs proof reading, editing, and formatting of technical documentation.
  • Ensures written material is accurate, complete, and meets editorial and Government specifications.
  • Adheres to standards for quality documentation, graphics, coverage, format, and style.
  • Researches supplies and materials through vendors on the open market, as needed.
  • Distributes supplies to local customer locations, as needed.
  • Processes and tracks project procurements in a prompt, cooperative, and efficient manner from pre-order through invoice payment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in administration office environments.
  • Proficient with various computer systems and databases.
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds 
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
