SUMMARY - Certified Medical Assistant (CMA):

BMC is currently seeking experienced Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) for the Foothills and Longmont Campus OB/GYN department. This position is full time working 32 hours per week Monday through Friday, and is benefit eligible. This position will enjoy weekends, evenings, and major holidays off.

Job Duties:

  • Recognizes, evaluates, and responds to emergency or unusual situations in the clinic using judgment within skill level to obtain additional help, if needed, to ensure proper medical care.
  • Receives all patient phone calls regarding medical concerns/questions, medication questions, immunization inquires, patient forms (sports forms, camp forms, return to activity, etc.) and any other patient needs.
  • Tracks immunization schedules and notifies physician of upcoming requirements.
  • Directs patient medical concerns to proper member of the medical team (phone triage nurse, physician’s clinic nurse, etc.).
  • Returns patient calls as directed by triage nurse and physicians.
  • Manages flow of patient forms through the office (collects them, tracks them through the completion process, contact back to patient when they are complete, etc.)
  • Assists the front office staff during busy times and as directed by the site-manager
  • Assists the clinical staff with routine duties as directed by the site-manager (may include assisting in rooming patients, supporting office procedures, etc.
  • Administers, and documents in EMR for all prescribed, OTC medications and drug samples, according to BMC EMR protocol.
  • Submits electronically and/or faxes new prescriptions and refill prescriptions according to provider orders in a timely manner. Records all new prescription and refill information in EMR per BMC EMR protocol.
Required Experience:


Skills and Abilities:

  • Broad knowledge base of general nursing practice, knowledge of acute practice based on skill level, licensure and scope of practice.
  • Good history-taking skills, strong, competent computer skills; accurate and complete documentation skills; good time management and organizational skills.
  • Relate well and communicate with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Able to demonstrate self-direction in establishing priorities and working with little supervision.
  • Able to maintain high level of precision in judgment, accuracy of assessment, and skill in problem solving under stress based on skill level, licensure and scope of practice.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an approved course of Medical Assistant (MA) study.
  • Must possess current Medical Assistant (MA) certification or registration from an accredited entity.
  • In place of a Medical Assisting Certification, a 4 year science degree is also accepted.
  • EMT certification acceptable credentials.

Experience

  • 2-5 years previous Medical Assistant experience, preferred.

Salary Range:

  • $16.54-$21.50 hour; depending on experience
Location:
  • This position works at both the Boulder and Longmont, CO locations.
