Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras (BYSO) firmly believes in the power of high-quality classical music
experiences to change lives. At BYSO, students receive a transformative music education that is rooted in
excellence and develops life-long skills such as self-confidence, team-work and leadership. BYSO is seeking a
motivated fundraiser to support and grow the organization’s robust institutional giving portfolio so that we can
achieve our mission.
The Development Associate position requires a unique combination of effective writing, research abilities, and
extreme attention to the details of a complex calendar of grants, reports, and budgets. The work will include
prospecting, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding foundations, corporations and government entities both
written, digital and verbal forms. This individual will be comfortable with and interested in speaking with
donors face-to-face and building relationships with individuals.
The Development Associate will join a six-person Development team and will work closely with the
Institutional Giving Officer and the Director of Development to raise approximately $900,000 annually from
this portfolio. The Development Associate will report to the Institutional Giving Officer and will be a self-starter
that can take initiative and is able to work independently much of the time.
A successful candidate will have an interest of the arts and/or the non-profit sector, and will be strong,
confident communicator capable of creating compelling written and verbal pitches for foundations,
corporations, and government agencies. This individual will bring a creative energy that manifests in ideas,
thoughtful strategy and the skills to implement them completely.

COMPENSATION:
This is a full-time position (40 hours/week). Compensation is commensurate with experience (salary range
$42,000-$46,000) and includes some benefits.
