Job Description:
The Senior Associate Director, AlumniRegional Engagement position within Alumni Relations is designed to develop astronger national Boston College community which fosters alumni connections toBoston College in support of the University’s mission. It reports to the Director, Alumni Regional& Class Engagement is charged with planning, managing, and implementing theBoston College Alumni Association’s national alumni chapter and overallregional engagement strategy which includes but is not limited to more than 70active domestic alumni volunteer groups and an annual budget supporting morethan four hundred events. The SeniorAssociate Director will manage all alumni domestic chapters, their respectiveannual and signature programming, campus partnerships and team budget to engage,inspire and connect alumni by way of the region they live within, ensuring thattheir engagement with the University remains strong regardless of where they live.
Essential functions include:

  • Recruiting, training, and retaining more than two hundred chapter leaders and volunteers.
  • Acting as a liaison between chapter leaders/volunteers and various University constituencies.
  • Coordinating the execution of regional events including, but not limited to, meetings, receptions, speakers’ series, spiritual, athletic and service projects.
  • Establishing effective budgets and timelines for regional events and programs.
  • Overseeing the development of collateral materials necessary to foster continued volunteer interaction and participation.
  • Collaborating with gift officers on the Annual and Leadership Giving team as well as the Major & Principal Gifts Giving team, to help drive and increase undergraduate engagement activity that aligns with University Advancement annual priorities.
  • Formulating, implementing, and maintaining national chapter standard operating policies and procedures.
  • Managing a team of four individuals, including three Assistant/Associate Directors and one Alumni Relations Assistant.

As a primary point of contact withalumni, the incumbent must be able to represent the University and the AlumniAssociation in a professional, enthusiastic manner with a customer serviceapproach and team focus as well as provide a consistent, high- qualityexperience in all interactions with volunteers. Public speaking ability is akey success factor for this position. Significant domestic travel is required.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $80,850 to $101,050; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of professional work experience in alumni relations, fundraising, development, donor relations, nonprofit management, research, marketing, communications, sales or similar professional work. A minimum of two years of management experience, including staff, and a minimum of one year of experience developing and managing a budget required.
To be successful, must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, strong fiscal management and supervisory skills, demonstrated program and event management skills, including diplomacy, creative thinking, vigilance, problem solving, and the ability to quickly resolve issues with common sense and available resources. Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and tact required. Also, must have an ability to interact effectively with volunteers, donors, University administrators and Trustees and a commitment to regularly work night and weekend events, some with travel, as necessary to manage programs successfully. A strong knowledge and application of MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint is expected; experience with Customer Relationship Management software is a plus. Strong leadership qualities, including the ability both to delegate and to execute, thereby leading by word and by example required; ability to work collegially and collaboratively in a team setting required. An exceptional work ethic and track record of personal initiative required. Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills characterized by the ability to listen, to speak, and to write well required. Must be flexible and adaptable to new programs in an emerging and changing environment required.
