Job Description:
The Senior Associate Director,Alumni Class & School Engagement position within Alumni Relations isdesigned to engage Boston College alumni in the life of Boston College throughtheir respective class year, degree and School affiliation. It reports to the Director, Alumni Regional& Class Engagement is charged with managing the engagement strategy, goalsetting and budget management of a variety of programs and events, including butnot limited to student and GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) programs,Reunion Weekend, Law School Reunion, additional School based engagementprograms and class committee oversight of the 1st year Reunion through the 65-yearReunion for undergraduate Boston College alumni. The Senior Associate Directorwill be expected to closely collaborate with the Annual Giving team to developand execute specific strategies with the primary goal of increasing alumniengagement and participatory giving of undergraduate alumni population.
Essential functions include:

  • Responsible for directly overseeing Reunion Weekend, an annual 3-day program consisting of 40-50 events for over 5,000 alumni and guests.
  • Guiding and supporting the team’s work flow of Reunion Engagement Committees, including GOLD Leadership Council and Newton College.
  • Overseeing recruitment, cultivation, and training of class and Reunion volunteers to work as representatives of Classes.
  • Managing the programs intended to introduce the connection between students and alumni, through Alumni Relations.
  • Driving the engagement programming for GOLD alumni and working closely with the BC Annual Fund and other partners.
  • Establishing policies and procedures, standards and timelines necessary to plan and deliver successful events.
  • Developing organizational goals, operating plans and budgets that will achieve set objectives.
  • Managing a team of four individuals, including three Assistant/Associate Directors and one Alumni Relations Assistant.
  • Working with Development and all other University Advancement colleagues, specifically School Development, Marketing and Communications and Advancement Information Systems, as well as other university constituencies including Dean and faculty, to develop, implement and communicate specific class and School based initiatives.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $80,850 to $101,050; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements
This position requires a Bachelor’sdegree and a minimum of five years of professional work experience in alumnirelations, fundraising, development, donor relations, nonprofit management,research, marketing, communications, sales or similar professional work. A minimum of two years of managementexperience, including staff, and a minimum of one year of experience developingand managing a budget required.
To be successful, must haveexcellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, strong fiscal managementand supervisory skills, demonstrated program and event management skills,including diplomacy, creative thinking, vigilance, problem solving, and theability to quickly resolve issues with common sense and available resources.Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and tact required.Also, must have an ability to interact effectively with volunteers, donors,University administrators and Trustees and a commitment to regularly work nightand weekend events, some with travel, as necessary to manage programssuccessfully. A strong knowledge andapplication of MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint is expected; experience with CustomerRelationship Management software is a plus. Strong leadership qualities, including the ability both to delegate andto execute, thereby leading by word and by example required; ability to workcollegially and collaboratively in a team setting required. An exceptional workethic and track record of personal initiative required. Outstandinginterpersonal and communications skills characterized by the ability to listen,to speak, and to write well required. Must be flexible and adaptable to newprograms in an emerging and changing environment required.
