Boston Children's Hospital is Hiring a MFM Sonographer Near Boston, MA

Job SummaryThe MFM Sonographer is responsible for the following:
  • Performs routine obstetrical ultrasound examinations as prescribed by a physician.
  • Reviews and evaluates requisitions for ultrasound imaging procedures, abstracting data from patient charts and determining appropriateness of procedure prescribed given diagnosis and clinical signs for routine examinations.
  • Works closely with the Radiologists.
  • Reviews ultrasound examinations before and after with the Radiologist, MFM, others as needed
  • Selects appropriate equipment and technical factors to identify pathologic and normal anatomy.
  • Assesses patients' and parents' physical and emotional status and ability to respond to instructions and develops plan for adjusting to patients' specific needs.
  • Follows QC/Data Integrity Workflow process.
  • Practices High Reliability Communication techniques.
  • Responds to the uniqueness and clinical condition of the patient.
  • Creates a supportive environment for the patient and the family.
  • Promotes a positive work environment in compliance with ETU.
  • Identifies and reports equipment malfunctions.
  • Assists senior technologists in organizing and maintaining daily operations of section.
  • Provides instruction on pediatric ultrasound procedures and techniques to residents, fellows, and students as requested.
  • Participates in departmental and hospital meetings.
  • Completes all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Complies with ETU.
  • Practices BCH 6 Core Values: excellence, innovation, communication, respect, teamwork and accountability.
  • Completes all required competencies and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintains up-to-date licensure/certification/registration in departmental file.
  • Furthers professional education and maintains knowledge of current regulations and standards, policies and procedures.
The MFM Sonographer must have the following:
  • Associates Degree:DMS
  • Obstetrics and Gynecology (RDMS OB/GYN) certification
