General Summary
Performs duties of Pharmacy Tech III plus: Coordinates and provides training to new technicians in job duties, procedures and techniques. Monitors and documents trainee performance, identifying areas for improvement and reports to pharmacist in designated area and/or pharmacy technician supervisor. Monitors daily workload and assists pharmacist and/or pharmacy technician supervisor in organizing, directing and prioritizing workflow to meet required schedules and production requirements in designated area.
The Lead Pharmacy Technician shall be responsible for:

• Capable of performing of all level III plus:
• Coordinates and provides training to new technicians in job duties, procedures and techniques.
• Monitors and documents trainee performance, identifying areas for improvement and reports to pharmacist in designated area and/or pharmacy technician supervisor.
• Monitors daily workload and assists pharmacist and/or pharmacy technician supervisor in organizing, directing and prioritizing workflow to meet required schedules and production requirements in designated area.
• Responds to requests for routine factual information within scope of authority, referring inquiries requiring medical or administrative judgment to appropriate personnel.
• Trains to facilitate daily operations of drug distribution; trains to select, train, supervise and evaluate designated personnel; and trains to provide decision support for department strategic planning and development of long and short-term goals and objectives.

In order to qualify you must have:

• A high school level of educational development and three years of Pharmacy Technician experience.
• MA Registration as Pharmacy Technician as well National CPht Certification.
• Must possess all of pharmaceutical skills listed on Level II & III plus mastery of compounding skills.
• Demonstrates the ability to train others Demonstrated the ability to effectively plan and delegate the work of others
• Analytical skills to gather and interpret data in situations in which the information or problems are relatively routine.
• Ability to understand and respond to written or verbal instructions. Incumbents must respond appropriately to instructions, questions or requests for information.
• Ability to operate effectively both independently and as lead Ability to apply effective techniques and processes resulting in nearly zero errors or defects, as well as ability to identify potential for errors in processes of in the work of others Mastery of knowledge of complex hospital medication use system Ability to creatively solve problems Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Proficient knowledge of basic computer skills.
• Strong attention to detail Ability to and lead follow directions.
