Team Leader - Seneca Battery
Position Summary
The Team Leader is responsible for total team functions relative to safety, quality, cost, delivery, and teamwork. Primary responsibilities of the Team Leader include but are not limited to daily monitoring of safety compliance, performance to KPI’s, delegation of work assignments, inventory management, training and support of team members, escalation of performance concerns, and consistent application of BorgWarner policies, procedures, and practices.
The schedule for this role is 6 : 00PM - 6 : 30AM, rotating nights. One week you work 3 nights, then the next week you work 4 nights.
The shift hours do not rotate, but the nights do, with everyother weekend off.
Internal candidates will be selected based on an interview including but not limited to skill set, attitude, ETC.

Standard Duties :
- Ensure team compliance to safety and environmental rules and regulations.
- Conduct team huddles to communicate safety talks and other pertinent information.
- Foster and drive BorgWarner beliefs of Inclusion, Integrity, Excellence, Responsibility and Collaboration.
- Perform inventory management to assist with on-time delivery, communicate deviations as necessary.
- Mentor, drive and support good manufacturing practices and 5S standards.
- Coordinate department priorities / delegate daily duties to team members .
- Assign team members accordingly per business needs.
- Effectively escalate workplace concerns / employee relation issues to Area Leader.
- Professionally and effectively communicate with team members, customers, support groups and management.
- Serve as the process subject matter expert in their respective area(s).
- Identify normal vs. abnormal conditions and take immediate appropriate action.
- Lead problem solving activities for their areas of responsibility.
- Provide leadership and guidance to drive results and continuous improvement.
- Work with operators and automation maintenance technicians to assist in troubleshooting / problem solving activities.
- Assist the Quality Technician in performing quality and documentation requirements.
- Assist with the training and development of operators to ensure that the proper training metrics and documentation are completed.
- Consistent delivery of policies, procedure, and practices.
- Use manual and battery-powered tools (i.e., crimps, stakes, screws, bolts, rivets, welds, solders, cements, press fits) according to work instructions.
- Maintain compliance with records retention standards related to scrap reporting, downtime tracking, and set-up sheets.
- Ensure timely and accurate production reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Safety, Health & Physical Requirements
- Moderate lifting up to 35 lbs.
- All employees are responsible for knowing, understanding, and complying with BorgWarner safety policies and procedures.
- Repetitive use of hands and wrist.
- This position requires a moderate to high degree of standing, walking, stooping, or kneeling, close eye work, reaching, pulling, or pushing.
- Requires wearing electrical personal protective equipment
- Ability to operate and multi-task between 2 to 3 stations.
- Able to crouch, bend, kneel, lift, carry and reach as needed in large and tight spaces.
- Good eye / hand coordination and ability to identify color and depth variations and small details visually.
- Up to 15% training related travel.

Education & Experience
Education :
- High School diploma / GED required, or basic skills assessment required.
- Associates degree preferred.
Experience :
- 2 years of leadership experience preferred.
- 1 year of manufacturing or related experience required.
- Experience in fast paced industrial lean environment preferred.
- Experience with troubleshooting machines / equipment preferred.
- Knowledge of electronic systems, integration, and heavy wiring is a plus.
- Ability to identify different wire gauges is a plus.
- Experience in reading blueprints and schematics and electrical crimpers is a plus.
Computer Skills :
Intermediate level MS Office preferred. Basic computer knowledge required.
