Accounting Analyst – Preferred location is Durango, CO. Secondary location could be Denver, CO. Remote would be a third option.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accounting Analyst to join our team. The Accounting Analyst will support accounting processes for our Bonfire Fiber division and play a key role in financial reporting, analysis, and compliance. The position will report to the Director of Product and Strategy. This is a great opportunity for an experienced candidate early in their career to work for a growing company.

What You Get to Do (Duties/Responsibilities):

  • Financial Reporting: Support the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, and provide analysis to management. Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and appropriate tax laws.
  • Variance Analysis: Conduct variance analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement. Provide insights and recommendations to management based on analysis findings.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process by gathering relevant financial data, performing analysis, and preparing reports. Collaborate with other departments to develop accurate and realistic budgets and forecasts.
  • Month-End Close: Support the month-end close process by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Day-to-Day Accounting: Manage the accounts receivable and purchasing functions within the division which includes the following project set up, billing, and reporting; processing and approval of purchase orders, and review and approval of vendor invoices. Other day-to-day functions as needed.
  • Financial Systems: Utilize accounting software and other financial systems to maintain accurate records and streamline financial processes. Identify opportunities for system enhancements or improvements.
  • Ad Hoc Analysis: Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by management. Provide support for special projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Expense Reporting: Assist with employee expense reporting process, including reviewing and approving expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies and accounting standards. Stay updated on changes in regulations and best practices.

What We Are Searching For (Required Skills/Abilities):

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards, including revenue recognition principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Acumatica, Oracle)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge and exposure to multi-company organizations a plus.

Education/Certifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
  • 2 years of experience in accounting or finance role

What’s In It for You?

Base Pay: $60,000 - $75,000 annually

Supplemental Pay:

Additional Details:

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
