Job Summary / Basic Function :
To direct staff engaged in campus and special event security; perform related work.
Primary work schedule 8 am - 5 pm, Monday through Friday.
May be required to work weekend and evenings.

Level Scope :
Provides immediate supervision to a unit or group of operational or technical employees. A portion of time may be spent performing individual tasks related to the unit;
however, supervisory activities must constitute a primary part of the job. Supervises unit operations to ensure compliance with departmental or campus policies, procedures, and defined internal controls.
Ensures accountability and stewardship of campus resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental standards and procedures.
Essential Functions :
schedules personnel to insure adequate security coverage; evaluates staff performance
Event Security Coordinator
Assume the event security responsibilities of the Security Manager in his / her absence.
Assist the security manager with the development and completion of event action plans.
Manage the university's event security equipment and technical program.
Help the Security Manager develop plans and approaches to various events posted on campus, utilizing a multi-disciplinary strategy that brings together all pertinent stakeholders to collaborate on developing policies, procedures and systems to ensure the safety of events.
Attend meetings that require a security component as directed by assistant director of event security.
Coordinate the university's event security operations, including game day security and other athletic events, large campus events and concerts, and other events on campus.
Plans and organizes event security staffing, equipment and facilities requirements.
Coordinate and schedule security staffing as needed.
Meets with campus event organizers to establish schedules, and determine security needs.
Coordinates with supervisors and crews all aspects of event security setup to include walk-through metal detectors, tamis barriers, prohibit item signage, tents and lighting equipment.
Perform tasks as assigned by the Security Manager when operational needs exist to ensure adequate security coverage of campus events.
Event Security Training
Coordinate with the Security Manager the development and presentation of pre-event security training for campus staff, 3rd party providers and contracted police officers.
Provide training to internal and external security personnel as required.
Administrative
Help the Security Manager monitor event budgets and expenditures.
Provide event security statistical data for annual budget preparation and after action reports.
Maintain event and security staff training records.
Coordinate with the assistance director the development of event security contracts to include 3rd party security, tent rental and Boise Police Department proposals and invoices.
Maintain accurate inventory of event security equipment to include, metal detector, hand wands, tamis barriers, prohibited item signage and other equipment.
Supervising of Event Staff :
Supervision of 3rd party contracted security staff for pre-event setup and post-event take down operations.
Supervision of walk through metal detector movement, placement and equipment start-up.
Supervise the storage, upkeep, repair and charging of walk through metal detectors, hand wands and other event security equipment.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities :
Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems
Ability to communicate information effectively
Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote an effective operation.
Minimum Qualifications :
Good knowledge of : self-defense measures; first aid; security problems and safety hazards as they relate to a large complex of buildings and grounds.
Some knowledge of : supervisory practices.
Experience : performing investigations incidental to security activities; training others in security procedures; completing investigative reports;
making oral presentations.
A valid Driver's License is required to drive campus vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications :
2-4 years experience in the event security-related field, preferably in a college or university setting.
Salary and Benefit s :
