We are seeking a motivated and skilled Construction Estimator and Project Manager with expertise in the food and beverage, pharma/nutraceutical, and light industrial fields to accurately assess project costs, materials, and labor, ensuring competitive bids and successful project outcomes.

Performance Objectives:

  • Accurately estimate project costs, materials, and labor within specified timelines.
  • Conduct thorough materials takeoffs to ensure all required materials are accounted for in estimates.
  • Analyze project blueprints, specifications, and documentation to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
  • Prepare detailed and competitive bid proposals that align with project requirements and budget constraints.
  • Collaborate effectively with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information and clarify project scope.
  • Assess and mitigate potential risks and uncertainties that may impact project costs or schedules.
  • Develop new project plans in consultation with stakeholders, including clients and staff.
  • Outline the human and material resources required to successfully complete each project.
  • Formulate a resource allocation strategy and utilize this to distribute work and finances.
  • Monitor staff performance to ensure excellence and adherence to specified deadlines.
  • Evaluate each project’s effectiveness by consulting with clients, consumers, and staff.
  • Possess the ability to identify and create new customers.
  • Utilize specialized software and tools for cost estimation, such as BIM software and cost databases, to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in construction technology to optimize estimating processes.
  • Provide clear and concise communication regarding project estimates, timelines, and requirements to stakeholders.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve estimating methods and processes to enhance productivity and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards in project estimates.
  • Maintain organized documentation and records of estimating activities for future reference and audit purposes.
  • Adapt quickly to changing project requirements and priorities while maintaining quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Contribute to the overall success of construction projects by delivering accurate and competitive estimates that support project goals and objectives.
  • Project size less than $500K
  • Identify needs that can be successfully addressed by projects.
  • Pitch project ideas and securing approval before each project commences.
  • Report on each project’s utility upon the update of outputs.
  • Consult with the assigned Project Manager to seek guidance and input during the key phase of each project.
  • Contract negotiation.

  • Research and identify prospective accounts in designated markets.
  • Follow up on leads, leverage networks, and ensure successful opportunities.
  • Deep understanding of target markets, industries, projects (products and services), and contacts to devise effective client attraction strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing, estimating, senior leadership, etc.) to meet proposal and presentation requirements.
  • Travel domestically to maintain and build client relationships and explore new prospects.
  • Proficient understanding of the company’s brand proposition and competitive landscape.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, corporate initiatives, and competitor activities.
  • Attend local and national conferences and networking events.
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on priorities and goal setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM systems.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to foster deep relationships and convey information clearly and concisely.
  • Possess an entrepreneurial spirit and the capability to overcome challenges.
  • Strong commercial building knowledge and excellent verbal and management skills.
  • Strong construction knowledge and excellent verbal and management skills.
  • Must be punctual and reliable.
  • Reliable transportation to project site locations.

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen, background checks, and motor vehicle record (MVR) upon formal offer of employment.

  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints.

Education/Experience/Certifications:

Required:

  • Relevant coursework in construction estimating, project management, mathematics, and building technology can provide a strong foundation.
  • Previous experience in construction estimating or related roles is highly beneficial.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong mathematical skills for accurate quantity takeoffs and cost calculations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with project teams, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Research experience with excellent communication, organizational skills, and follow-up skills.
  • Self-motivated with high energy and enthusiasm.
  • OSHA 30, but can be obtained in the first 120 days. Project Manager Professional Certification (Certified Project Manager credential)
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Project scheduling experience

Desired:

  • Familiarity with construction industry practices, materials, and methods.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications, such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or Certified Construction Estimator (CCE).
  • Project management software certification(s) (i.e.: Procore Certifications for Construction Professionals).
  • 5 years of experience in commercial construction, including experience with a commercial general contractor.

Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to move around the office environment efficiently to collaborate with colleagues and access necessary resources.
  • Strong visual acuity and attention to detail are essential for reviewing intricate project plans, blueprints, and technical documents accurately.
  • Proficient manual dexterity is required for handling paperwork, operating office equipment, and utilizing computer systems effectively.
  • Comfortable and sustained sitting is necessary for extended periods of desk work, including reviewing documents, performing calculations, and utilizing computer software.
  • Flexibility for occasional travel may be required, involving sitting for extended periods during travel and navigating various environments, including construction sites and client locations.
  • Hearing and vision within the normal ranges.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
